West Virginia gov: βItβs about title ix and how important it is for girls education.β
MSNBC reporter: βOkay then why does your state suck that bad at public education?β
ugh. that dude. he keeps talking about βgirlsβ - missing the point that a kid who was assigned βmβ on their birth certificate might also be a girl, and thatβs why we have the term transgender.
oh im sorry. the real problem is boys who want to be part of the wnba someday. grrrr.
I like her! Who is that? Need more like this.
I know itβs not the point, but I am fascinated that they detailed in what appear to be bleeding mushrooms. (Iβd show the real thing but if anyone is even remotely trypophobic theyβd hate it.)
Repeat this mantra: βBut wait, thereβs more!β
One should read the whole thing, but hereβs the conclusion:
βIf weβre going to be in a leadership position, whoβs most important thatβs watching us? To me, itβs the kids,β Samsel told The Star recently when discussing the Suellentrop case.
βAnd when they look across our country right now and see that you can do things under bathroom stalls or whatever else, make up an excuse, deny immediately and then it turns out, yeah, you were kind of guilty β the process happens way too many times and itβs not been done the right way.β
I couldnβt put it any better myself.
WTH? Heβs a lawyer, and heβs decided to be a substitute teacher? My guess is that heβs found a way to indoctrinate (harrass) young people with his extreme religious views.
those grow in scattered areas in the forests near olympia, washington. i saw some when i went out to washington in 2018 to visit a close friend. the locals there call them βstrawberries and creamβ mushrooms as a kind of sarcastic joke. i was told that while they are edible and nontoxic they are not particularly tasty.
Only the most successful lawyers opt to ditch their day job to make $13/hr substitute teaching. The fact that heβs a single male makes it all the more normal. /s
Yeah, part of the story points out that βhe was one of just 13 lawmakers to vote against a bill that would have ended an exemption for spouses from the stateβs sexual battery law.β
And he further states, βTo me, it gets to what does the sanctity of marriage mean?β Samsel was quoted as saying, according to the Kansas Reflector. βAnd Iβm single, so Iβm not the best person to speak to this. But when you do get married, what does that mean? And what implied consent are you giving?β
All sorts of alarm bells are going off for me.
Agreed, the whole story is very unsettling. Iβm glad parents are speaking up.
And to be clear (not directed at you, just general clarification) when I mentioned his single male status, I meant in the context of him not having a child in the system, so his motivation to take the low-paying work is even more suspect.
But more to the larger point, how in heck do guys like this get elected?!? Even with gerrymandering, this is really the best option you can produce. Makes me cry for our country.
When it comes to actual voting I assume they just look for the R after the name. As for the party selecting them, Iβm guessing that sometimes they just go βHey does anyone want to run for this office?β and basically only one person goes βI guess Iβll do itβ. There canβt be any thoughtful process that goes into it.
So, the most prominent Republican in the recall effort in California now finally has announced a political position on something. Itβs about as bad as youβd expect:
An even the way she phrased it, βI oppose biological boys who are trans competing in girlsβ sports in schoolβ just seems so out of step with where society is at right now. What happened to the idea that βtrans girls are girls, full stop.β? Itβs almost as if, against all odds, this woman doesnβt know any trans people at all.
In a perverse way this is a brilliant strategy. How does a transgender candidate win over an inherently bigoted voter base? By offering them cover for their bigotry, of course.
I have the feeling that a couple years from now, someone will say βOMG! Why didnβt they search his phone and computer back then?β
eta: If he lost control and sexually assaulted someone (knee to the balls) in a classroom with phones out and recording, what is he like when heβs got someone alone and in private?
OMFG. Among the things theyβre most worried about is that the early childhood education will:
turn them into social justice activists.
Because who wants to raise a child that turns out to care about social justice?!? What a disgrace.
Came back to add: like others, I hoped after T lost Iβd feel less anxious about these things. But like other others already predicted, that guy just made the opening of the flood gates public and epic, and it seems we are a ways off from the luxury of being less anxious (or involved, or active).
How is one failed mogul SO effing exhausting?
