More GOP attacks against inclusion in higher education:
Since past GOP policies pushed more members of marginalized and oppressed groups into poverty, this might not lead to the results they expect. I wouldn’t be surprised if they decide to try ending financial aid completely after they figure that out.

The USDOT Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program is the largest and perhaps oldest program in the country.
The entire program is being challenged in court to eliminate it.

The USDOT puts out something like $150 billion in contracts a year - more with the infrastructure bill.
At all levels of government- direct grants to State DOTs, Airports, Transit Agencies. Sub recipient grants to all levels of gov - cities, local bus lines, bike projects, some maritime things.
Tens of billions going to minority and women owned businesses across the country could just evaporate.
Fuck.

This isn’t about anything new, but more an interesting aspect of how we got here.
ETA: There’s a really great bit at the 28:22 mark that starts with Powell voting for Roe v Wade and why he did that considering he was otherwise such a far right conservative. For those who don’t have time to watch it, it’s because of a personal experience he had. So like all conservatives, he had no empathy until something actually happened to him or someone he cared about.

Ive heard that argument IRL. From my sister, who has fallen deep down an Ayn Randian rabbit hole. Something about “knowing their place” and “not reaching above their station.” The conversation did not end well.
