one cool provision is a mandate that the irs figure out what it would take for them to directly provide free tax filing, and then report back a plan to congress and the white house.
it’ll be a battle just like the last time. only now there’s a proven track record of how onerous the privatized free file system has been and how few people are actually able to use it ( because the tax companies make billions by deliberately making it hard to use )

I don’t get this attitude. When I submitted an expense report recently, I blurred the qr code on a receipt because it could have theoretically been used to get discount rail travel for another two weeks in a country hundreds of miles away from where the admin officials live. And selfie guy over there has a security clearance?

I mean, it’s a guest network, and possibly for the camera equipment rather than a general Mar a Lago network, but it’s the principle of the thing: you just don’t ever share passwords ever, no exception.
