That’s like saying ‘it’s not a retriever, it’s a dog’. A republic is the larger grouping, as opposed to, say, monarchy. But what kind of republic? Oligarchy? (well….) It’s supposed to be a Democratic Republic. They conveniently leave that part out.

so, let’s posit that a “republic” is a form of government characterized by divided and balanced power. That’s reasonably close to what the NR position ostensibly means
the problem is that the contemporary presidency has many tools to overwhelm the other branches. and this ruling only exacerbates this imbalance.
The argument for strengthening the president, stated in the most reasonably disingenuous terms possible, is that the civil service somehow has its own policy goals, independent of the president.
{of course, most of the people who advance this argument are most concerned about the entrenched views of the EPA, but there are a number of captured agencies that aren’t doing a particularly good job of regulating e.g… railroad safety )
it’s a power grab, plain and simple.

In Moscow, Idaho, there is a pitched battle for the soul of the community – and it’s all wrapped up in a battle for the souls of the community. It pits residents who like the quiet college town’s all-are-welcome vibe – with its visible pride flags and Black Lives Matters signs – with a church that abhors those things.
A fundamentalist congregation called Christ Church wants to make Moscow an explicitly Christian city, governed by Biblical principles. To accomplish this, they and their allies are buying up big swaths of real estate and opening businesses to increase their footprint and economic might.
One downtown business owner echoed the concerns of a lot of folks we spoke to: “It feels like an invasion. It feels like they are trying to take over the town.”
