Lauren Boebert said she gave birth to her child in a truck, therefore parental leave should be banned

This person’s vanity is the part I hate the most. Always, always, always preening for the camera. Do some real work if you’re that concerned.

Secretary Buttigieg’s kid is less likely to put him in Shady Pines Retirement Home in his old age than Boebert’s kids are to put her there.

I feel bad for that first born kid. Mom physically dropped out of school, but mentally never left 9th grade.

Well, of course. Everybody knows that men don’t have breasts - they have manly chests. Duh.

I’m actually somewhat surprised she didn’t try to work in some comment about him wishing he could nurse “like other women”. Bleh.

I’m honestly curious how this sits with her constituents / Republicans / Q people. If she has a problem with men taking paternity leave (the horror! also: I absolutely took it and it’s important) then “fine,” but she also seems to be arguing against maternity leave. Is everyone in her world really against women not getting to stay home with their newborns? If so, I fear we truly are lost as a society. :frowning:

I think that Boebert, in particular, is both staggeringly and willfully ignorant about everything, and massively dishonest.

“she gave birth to one of her four little rascals in the front seat of her super boss pickup truck.”

To me, that’s just further evidence of her lack of risk assessment & planning skills.

Sure the kid has a dent in his head from the stick shift and can’t count to ten; but that just builds character.

She said Americans would “know who to blame” if the supply chain crisis affects Christmas celebrations.

Greedy companies that don’t want to pay a decent wage?

What is so staggering about her statement is that, if you give it even a modicum of critical thought, you realize that she is advocating for a complete government take over of the transportation sector.

A gender-neutral term for breastfeeding that might or might not be advocated by anyone in the trans community:

These are the building blocks of the gender-critical argument on language. First, take an elemental word – “mother”, “breastfeeding”, “woman” – a word that you can’t describe the world without. Then say that trans people want to replace it with a word that sounds quite alien or unpronounceable: “caregiver”, “chestfeeding”, “womxn”. Next, claim that anyone who slips up will be instantly attacked or cancelled. Often, the case will be proved by a medical, scientific or academic document – the Lancet, or an NHS leaflet to staff, or the American Civil Liberties Union’s adaptation of a Ruth Bader Ginsberg quote. This gives heft to the claim of totality – that the language is being changed, without general consent, by militants. In fact, particularly in the medical case, the NHS isn’t even responding to a demand from trans people; it’s just trying to scope out to the fullest extent the ways in which professionals can get ahead of mishap. When you’re trying to care for someone in an extreme situation, such as giving birth, you’re not making rules for society – you’re just trying to build trust.

Everyone in her world is against women ending birth, or working if they have a child (taking time off is just taking advantage of “the system”). Then they seem to imply that the child better not need any welfare, healthcare, or really any care at all. After reaching adulthood, they should all join the military and become cannon fodder for the Republican army. Or if they have any smarts, they join politics / become grifters.

We have a world to save here," she added.

Her definition of save and nearly everyone else’s are not the same.

Well, she just left because of the left-wing, cultural marxist indoctrination! /s

Stick shift? That’s for those phony elitist “sports” cars, not a patriotic superboss 'Merican truck!

[I think you might be giving her too much credit. Driving a manual takes executive brain function until you’ve driven one long enough for it to become mostly muscle memory.]

I was born in the front seat of a 68 Mustang.

Curiously when mom tells the story it’s about a desperate situation around a dangerously premature birth, how little medical access they had in the wake of Cowboy Jesus yanking away American Labor rights and the social safety net. And how it was salvaged by government healthcare provided by Dad’s part time, public sector job.

Cause giving birth in a car is bad.

The component you’re forgetting is that they’re not supposed to be staying home from paid employment…the only acceptable job for a white woman is to be an unpaid wife, mother, and housekeeper.
