Lauren Boebert said she gave birth to her child in a truck, therefore parental leave should be banned

So. What she actually mean is she already had all the kids she intend to have, therefore parental leave is now useless and should be banned, I take it?

I’m not saying you’re wrong, but gosh that’s depressing. :frowning:

Honestly, she’s just a plant. Not a house plant - though that’s about the extent of her brain power - but a literal plant in Congress.

The way she behaves, I suspect her mother gave birth to Boebert in a pool of leaded petrol.

I heard Boebert didn’t wait until her lunch break, wasting valuable apple-picking time.

The floor mats in her truck say: “If it ain’t placenta, wash your feet.”

No, I ordered some stuff from the Internet and it hasn’t arrived yet, so clearly that’s because this Pete fellow has taken leave.
I’m not American, but the point stands.

Though some kind of time loop thingy, this music video of Lauren Boebert’s truck baby, now country music singer has appeared on the internet. I think Dr. Who was involved…

I was shot once and I don’t go around carrying a gun because I’m not a coward, therefore whatever bullshit fears this asshole has don’t justify her going heeled!

Am I doing this right?

The party of family values, everyone! The thing I hate most about this timeline is that at least 1/3 of this country, if they hear what she said, will respond with “Hell yeah, she’s right!”, another 1/3 will respond with “You’re taking what she said out of context. Plus, she’s just saying that to get the libs all worked up, and it clearly worked”, and another 1/6 will be completely oblivious to it all, and the final 1/6 are those of us who read Boing Boing, and we aren’t enough to fix this shit.

Not quite. You need more cognitive dissonance. Repeat after me:
“I did benefit from welfare, so no one should benefit from welfare.”
“I didn’t benefit from maternity leave, so no one should benefit from maternity leave.”

See the common theme here? Now, try again

In the USA, sure. This is a country where new mothers are entitled to precisely nothing in the way of paid leave (and certainly nothing for new fathers because that would be sexism, I guess?).

There is the FMLA which allows for up to 12 weeks unpaid leave for new mothers, but that only applies in certain circumstance (such as working for a company with more than 50 employees, etc). States may have better benefits, and companies can offer better benefits but as always these policies disproportionately impact minorities and the poor.

You don’t see people in the right up in arms over this because something something socialism, bootstraps, handouts, etc.

Two of the best months in my adult life where the time when I was on state paid parental leave to take care for my baby daughter. I will cherish this time to the day I die and I deeply regret not having taken it for my first daughter. My wife took paid leave for 12 months, of course. Society here regards you as a monster for not doing that.

Meh, I think calling her white trash, making fun of her kids, calling out her lack of formal education all just play into her strategy of splitting and appealing to reactionary tribalism. In doing so, the support she enjoys from her base is vulcanized. What she said is ignorant and hateful, that makes her repulsive. That’s a more powerful critique than “we don’t like people who like their trucks, boo hiss.”
