Although his renderings of the human form are usually ridiculously disproportionate, I still wouldn’t deign to say that Rob Liefeld “can’t draw.”
There’s a huge difference between having (major) flaws in one’s creations and not being able to render images that are recognizable and/or aesthetically pleasing.
Lack of empathy is definitely aided by ignorance, but there might be some kind of critical period in development when children really benefit from examples and reinforcement of empathy.
Republican style conservatism draws such tight borders (walls?) around potentially sympathetic humanity, that even being American isn’t enough.
Can’t be:
Black, brown, yellow, anything except white or orange
Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, anything we haven’t heard of
Atheist
Liberal (progressive is bad too because we hate both liberty and progress)
Feminist (Being female is bad enough, you don’t have to go and respect yourself)
Well-educated (or hide it well)
Foreign (Brits are acceptable if they yell on fox news)
Sorry for going on and on, wrapping up
TL;DR
They give impression they want to reduce legitimate humanity to a tiny circle.
Agreed. As someone who always wishes he could draw, but could never invest the time to get decent at it, I have a hard time construing Sandman as bad art.

Fortunately my wife is an excellent artist and loves my cooking, so I just prepare something special anytime I need art done, and I have no moral qualms against bribery =
A buddy and I got to briefly compare notes on our convention experiences last week. I was riding around town handing out books, he ended up at a podium talking about cybersecurity at the Twinks for Trump party. He mentioned sitting on a couch with Milo and told me “He’s not so bad when there aren’t cameras around.” We’d talked before about him getting me into parties, I’m not sure yet if I feel like I missed out. It really was a banner week for charming sociopaths.
The article does exhibit that tendency that you see everywhere nowadays, painting people of a different political stripe as a disingenuous attention troll. I get it often applies-- Trump, Milo-- but it’s a really wide brush to see so consistently applied and I don’t think its continued use is going to help improve anything.
