Just, FYI, many of the Nazis first victims were themselves German, and not to blame for their own oppression. And I don’t even know what point you’re trying to make about the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. You’re victim blaming here, so don’t do that.
So, anyone 18 and over can conceal-carry without a permit or training, but you will have no impunity if you shoot someone.
Get a permit and training, the reward will be no consequences.
WTF?
There actually aren’t any people in Nazi Germany currently – if you check it hasn’t existed for some time now. There are people in Germany, and you might be surprised to learn it’s actually not a bad place without the Nazis in charge.
Yes. And this is why its important to teach history in schools not just obedience.
We all agree, theres no debate (here) that this is a bad idea that will negatively impact already disenfranchised populaces.
Are you are just taking umbrage that you think im conflating what “democratically” elected leaders do with representing the will of the residents (not voters)? (Im not saying they are/do)
But that clearly is not going to get in the way of YOU feeling morally superior to us down here… Conflating ALL us with the fascists who are working hard to disenfranchise us doesn’t help. You’re playing right into their playbook, that THEY are the real southerners and the rest of us are either complicit or victims (who, apparently don’t vote?!). Let’s not forget that us here in GA saved everyone’s bacon in 2020/21…
Lots of good people are doing good work in red states. It’s not people in “safe” blue states that are gonna save us, but us in red states.
The government of the state is run by racist religious nutjobs who people voted for. This is a fact. Say what you will about how they seized power through an absurd amount of dirty tricks people still voted for them.
Im not saying where i moved to is any better, really not trying to say im any better or that there are any more or less hateful people here. local diner folk contantly bring up how much they dont like folks from the city and immigrants.
Im saying our state government is less hateful. Because people made it that way by voting.
Congratulations on living in a State that voted 51/49 instead of 49/51, I guess. But states can and do flip when people stand up for that 49% instead of writing them off as somehow irrelevant.
If the police are really concerned about this, we should note that Landry got every relevant police endorsement, including the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Association. I’m sure they will be revising their support next election?
No?
Well, maybe that concern is just a pretext for more money and even less checks on their abuse. We know they won’t be pulling every white Louisianan out of their cars when the get stopped for a broken tail light. Can’t say the same for the rest.
born and raised “in the South”. i guess i am a horrible person and deserve the hate, the nastiness directed at me for living in a southern state. a state where i did not vote for the current regime of haters, racists and christofascists.
i get so tired of this. just as so many others here are so extremely tired of this utter crap nonsense!
@anon61221983 , @anon29537550 , @anon48584343 , @anon27554371@Wayward and so many others living in southern states who absolutely do not deserve to live under one-party regressive rule, brought about by serious gerrymandering and outright voter suppression.
hate, racism, homophobia, xenophobia, misogyny is not isolated to the southern states, it is everywhere and many other comments before this have pointed that out! stop doubling down on this being a problem that primarily exists in “teh South”.

Due to economics and many other factors, lots of people don’t get to actively choose where they live, in my experience; many people tend to remain in the region where they were born, or somewhere not far off.
IMO, dismissing an entire area out of hand as if all the people there are somehow monolithic in thought and action is some terribly intellectually lazy thinking…
Plus, some people don’t want to leave, because it’s their home and they love it. Deciding where we want to live is and should be a human right, not up to the whims of some bigots to decide.
In terms of the racism many of my Black friends and neighbors face down here, their ancestors built this state up and continued to do hard, back-breaking work even well after the end of slavery… if anyone deserves space in the south, it’s those folks.
