Macron rewrites Trump campaign slogan as "Make Our Planet Great Again"

Better than me too, most likely. My reign would be a blood-soaked, revanchist nightmare.

Well, not to tamper with everyone’s enthusiasm here, but there are a couple of facts that should be known:

  • There is nothing in Macron’s manifesto about any kind of environmental preservation.
  • He tends to be in favor of fracking (because business, whose pocket he is so deep in you would have to get spelunking gear to even try to take him out).
  • Parliament general elections are coming up next week, and he is far from being certain of getting a majority (he became president because a. he was created and proped by mainstream media in a way not many outside France seem to be aware of, and b. contrary to the fear mongering in the same media, even a monkey would have won against Le Pen. That’s what she was there for).

All this to say that this is nothing more than a gesture to go through greenwash on the cheap, and add in a bit of diplomatic chest thumping, in order to get votes next week.

Trump wants a haircut on the carbon credits.

Big coal wins again.

19th century energy sources versus 21st century energy sources.

While I positively approve of the idea as such - this is basically three old Krupp logos shoved together to form something that looks like a mutated biohazard symbol.

Not yet. It will take at least another two years to complete Brexit.
Besides, there is no indication of Britain leaving NATO.

Apart from publicly aligning with Trump. May looks to be aiming to tag along as Trump’s forward airbase.

Okay, you’re calling it a cheap shot. But America plus two versus the entire planet?

Personally I like the idea of MOPGA hats as a warning sign.

You’ll feel better about it if you take a quick look at the other proposals.

That feels a little pedantic. Do you sincerely believe the Brexit will not happen?

Pedant is my middle name.
Brexit will happen, article 50 has been evoked. However, I don’t think that two years are nearly enough to disentangle everything that needs to be disentangled and negotiate what needs to be negotiated. The statues include the possibility of extending the timeframe; whether this will happen remains to be seen.
However, Britain’s nuclear arsenal and how it will be put to use in the future1) is strictly a NATO matter and has about as much to do with Britain’s EU membership as it has with Britain’s membership in the EPLF.
Britain was a (founding) member of NATO a couple of decades before joining the EU, and will remain a member of NATO after brexiting the EU.

1) My money is on ‘deterrence against possible aggression’, as per usual.

The Republicans’ sole reasons for being are:

  • restoring an abortion ban

  • otherwise pissing off liberals

If Obama did it, it must be bad, it must be reversed. Any liberal or center or center-right objection to their crusade is looked at as validation that they are going in the correct (that is, far-right) direction. And in fact it feeds their flame of spite to continue.

What I cant get over is: all this benefits people and interests, like the Koch Brothers, who remain blithely in the shadows. They don’t get their hands dirty. They simply throw some few millions into astroturfed front groups, thinktanks, and falsified studies and reap a windfall of billions.
