MAGA lets their stupid show as they cry that Bud Light is somehow "woke" (video)

Stop it! Let’s nip this incipient punfest in the bud right now!

(not you, that Seth Weathers dipshit)

And he’ll make a mint, too, because other dipshits will line the fuck up to buy his dumb product.

At this point, these chuckle-fucks are literally unsatirizable…

So fucking dumb. Shit like this tends to hit at first with the hype, but fizzles out because 1) its not readily available, and 2) usually costs more than the “woke” brands.

It’s a grift all the way down.

“Go fash, no cash.” It’s a real thing when 1 in 5 of the up and coming demographic identifies as LGBTQ+. It’s all about the Benjamins.

Right? I almost feel obligated to buy a case of this enlightened swill, just to thumb my nose at the “anti-woke” brigade. Too bad it tastes like Tucker Carlson looks, sallow and bitter.

It’s Billy Beer 2.0 @anon33932455: Definitely real, not worth the price except as a momento of the times.

Yeah, but you can’t believe that and simultaneously believe that the invisible hand rules all and is all-knowing. But then, they’re very good at believing contradictory things.

I actually don’t think that’s true. We’re very good at self selecting who we associate with and if all our friends and neighbours have similar worldviews it is easy to believe that we represent a majority. If statistics contradict this, believing it is a silent majority is the easiest explanation.

Ironic, since historically the phrase “silent majority” referred to the dead.

Euphemism for the dead:
‘The majority’ or ‘the silent majority’ can be traced back to the Roman writer Petronius, who wrote abiit ad plures (he is gone to the majority) to describe deceased people, since the dead outnumber the living. The phrase was used for much of the 19th century to refer to the dead. Phrases such as “gone to a better world”, “gone before”, and “joined the silent majority” served as euphemisms for “died”.

But that’s the wrong kind of freedom.

The beer protesters want their freedom to be free of trans people, and free of gay people, and free of feminists, and free of liberals and socialists, and free of people whose skin isn’t pale enough. The freedom to deprive other people of their freedom. It’s the only kind of freedom that matters for far-right America.

Maybe not ironic - the policies these fascists keep trying to inflict on the living should have died ages ago. Intentional, it seems.

@the_borderer: You are spot on.

An idea manufactured by Nixon, in fact. It riled up the extreme end of the base to tell them they were the normal ones, as they secretly always believed. Gave them permission to indulge their dark tendencies. Like a certain other someone did recently.

Again, this was a manufactured identity that came from Nixon. They really do believe they are the silent majority because they want and need to believe it for their world view to make sense.

Never underestimate humans’ ability to juggle cognitive dissonance.

I maybe wasn’t clear but that was the part I was trying to highlight. For some of the conservatives driving the party, it’s a manufactured idea that they’re the majority and always has been. I’m confident there are many who believe it in the rank and file but it’s an idea sold as a marketing strategy at its core. I imagine the Tuckers of the world have enough access to market research to know they’re not the majority. That most people in the US are in favor of things like a higher minimum wage and reproductive rights and a reasonable set of restrictions on guns. But to keep power, they need to sell the base on the idea that they’re a majority being oppressed by us filthy libs.

Psychologist here. Cognitive dissonance is a sea I swim in every day!

I’ve almost walked to the store to get some bud light like three times this week after all this hoopla, but then I’ve have to drink bud light. Maybe I’ll grab some of their seltzer instead.
