Maine confiscates a vegan family's "obscene" vanity license plate

Reminds me of the old lesson on commas. You could write:
I helped my uncle Jack off a horse.
or
I helped my uncle, Jack, off a horse.

Hmm. I’ve never spelled masturbation with a capital m.

So why did they kill the horse?

Hear tell it was because the horse refused to give rides to Jack.

Poor thing. Everyone knows what a jackoff Jack is.

OK, I’m clueless on this one. What’s it supposed to be?

5150 is slang for “crazy” as the Cal. Welfare & Institutions Code Section 5150 is the mechanism for a 72-psychiatric hold. It was in a lot of cop shows, I guess, and Van Halen’s first album with Sammy Hagar was “5150” – MF is, well, mother fucker.

I was trying to parse the numbers as letters or figuring out how pronouncing the numbers would do something. That legal section definitely clears it up, would’ve gotten it if I knew that, MF is obvious when it’s more stand-alone. Thanks.

For a couple years there, our DMV was running 6-9 months behind. The governor even put out a memo to law enforcement providing a grace period for drivers to have late or no registration or plates. Of course, DMV has caught up now and there are still a lot of drivers out there with no plates and expired registration. A colleague of mine is obsessed with it for some reason, so we have a little contest on who can find the plates with the most out of date registration. The worst we’ve seen is 2006!

OCTOPI

Maybe they are just a fan of a young Ron Howard in the autumn?

Are you talking about firm or extra firm? What about pressed or marinated, both of which are more solid (marinated often reminds me of cooked liver in its presentation)? Or maybe silken, which is always in a fully enclosed shelf-stable container so you can’t actually see it when you buy it?

It’s like being against dairy products. There are so many different textures and consistencies you need to zero in on specifics.

Then there was these two silly examples in Canada.

Mostly just the ones I have to get out of the soupy yuck when buying it in the bulk section. Though for some reason the feta cheese offered in the same format right next to it doesn’t offend near as much.

Hippies were oft ridiculed & reviled in places I grew up & tofu was a joke of it’s own in the same genre, but I’d hope my frail mind could let it go, as I live among them now and my partners stir fry is always good.

Where in the world is there still an open bulk section where one can fish out individual food items from brine?

It’s been a long time since the pickle barrel…

Yeah that looks…highly susceptible to contamination. :face_with_monocle:

I never did for Tofu or Feta in the US, only since moving north. You get the tongs and fish it out into a bag, I think the only plastic bags left in our local health/organic/alt food store, of te sort that i can only afford to get specialty items, I’d go broke or starve if I tried to get all my groceries there.
