Wow, the underwater tree harvesting is an interesting process. Evidently the barge skipper / logger has no underwater vision and has to “feel around” for trunks below the surface.

Old sign, new project. One of our festival sponsors is Showtime Documentary Films. I made this sign (and its twin) for them maybe 3 years ago:
Since time is short, instead of making two new signs, I’m trying to match their color (Pantone 186) and add the lettering using a vinyl cutter.
It’s really difficult to match PMS colors to paint. I got two samples today and I think the one on the left will be close enough:

ETA: As corporate sponsors go, these have been a real p. in the a. Vimeo was much more chill
That’s gorgeous.
9/10ths under water?
Not what I’m working on, but work in my vicinity:
I finally got my bastard landlord to have the crumbling asbestos removed from my woodshed. They should be straightening the frame and re-skinning it with sheet metal in a few days.
Is that a Huon Pine stump?
Tasmanian Blackwood.
It’s not actually connected to the ground; it came from Dot’s (the granny next door) front yard. I’m just using it as a firewood splitting block for now, but there’s probably a few bowls worth of decent wood in the core of it.
Brilliant. Are those fins made from that fake grass that comes in sushi takeouts?
Yep, that was my excuse to get takeout yesterday.
Opting not to create the illusion of freshness, I see.
I was actually thinking about taking it in the other direction but I couldn’t find any little plastic flies in time.
Next up: Repairing this light sculpture. I made this a few years ago and it’s seen a lot of use. But 4 of the 12 tubes wouldn’t light up anymore. Time to replace some ballasts!
That’s better:
Its title is Cool White
The dead fish set a high bar.
Do the parents race?
Yes but not against the kids. We started a separate division for parents who want to make their own cars a few years ago. It seemed like a good way to provide an outlet for parents who might otherwise be tempted to get overly invested in “helping” with their scouts’ cars.
Zen Zoomer took best design award for parents’ division but didn’t set any speed records as one might expect.
