I think you misunderstand the physics of slippery ice, but no matter. If you are curious read up on it. Its complicated. The surface of ice is “melting” even well below freezing.

That just pops up a list of reasons to flag the post, as long as he didn’t get too far down the rabbit hole it won’t have any effect. (And even then the mods would just clear the flag since it wasn’t flag-worthy.)

He could have self rescued by salting in front of himself as he slid, but that might have has it’s own problems.
And with a steep driveway like that all you need o do is salt the first few feet & let the salt solution run under the ice all the way down.
