Imagine that same feet-on-the-desk image, but the sitter were black. They would totally understand the disrespect then. These same ‘I’m not threatening’ assholes would want that person dead. But when they do it, they’re “patriots.”
Serious jail time probably won’t make them understand anything any better, but at least it gets them out from underfoot for a while.

Yeah, especially with prosecutors stressing he was being charged with “…other ̶a̶l̶l̶e̶g̶e̶d̶
activities of the day, such as threatening police and vandalizing the office.” It’s like a convicted robber trying to claim their in jail because of the jaywalking they did when fleeing the scene.

Not long enough. Not because he put his feet on a desk, but because he was part of a mob breaking in with the intent of kidnapping or lynching congresspeople and overturning the results of a valid election when he did so. Never forget that, ever.

Yes, this. Can you imagine had it been a predominantly darker-skinned crowd?
They would have called in the orbital railguns and the frikkin’ laser sharks. But hey it’s all white boyz so… patriotism.
AND light sentences - consider that police forces in the US kill 1000+ people every dang year, for much lesser cause or no cause at all.

Strange wording, but a quick search of amazon shows that it’s a common statement on products for the “too scared to walk around the duck pond without protection” crowd. Must be 950k volts and 7 amps.
