Good for him. Now can the whole country divorce her?

The marriage is far from the only thing about her that’s “irretrievably broken”.

Fascists are kinda hard to love.

If we can just get the non-racists to come out and vote against her and her racist voter-base, then I think we could. Marcus Flowers seems like a good alternative, but the trick is dealing with the threats of violence and long history of voter suppression in the 14th.

Such restraint and maturity. Clearly these are canned statements. I’d get out the popcorn in anticipation of the inevitable drama but MTG makes me lose my appetite.

We should all respect her wishes on the “private and personal matter”, exactly to the same extent that she has shown respect for the personal and private concerns of all of us…such as our right to bodily autonomy, and the right to not be shot in church or school, and the right to make decisions about our health in consultation with our doctor, and most importantly, the right not to be lectured by a vicious dumb-ass.

There was always another man between them.

In 2018, the district’s voting rate was 44.5% so there’s room to win even when you factor in voter suppression. The question is, what will it take for apathetic white voters to finally show up at the polls to get rid of a rep that makes the district’s residents look like a bunch of morons?

The low turn out is fully DUE to voter suppression. It’s the largest factor for people not voting, whatever their race, especially the further you move out from Rome and into the rest of the district. However, much like other more rural districts of N. GA, it’s getting pulled more and more into the metro’s orbit. Cartersville, south of Rome, is probably more diverse than it used to be, given how many people are moving up there for cheaper housing and a bit slower pace of life.

Much like the south itself, even these districts with problematic pasts are more diverse than people understand, and things are starting to change there.

you have to count on those apathetic white voters not being morons too. tough statistic to calculate.

Given the district’s demographics (74%+ white) that would still provide an opening. White people, however racist or anti-fascist they are, really don’t like it when they’re treated like minorities.

I’m assuming that, as is often the case in conservative areas, college students are being denied the right to vote in the district. Perhaps a GOTV and voting rights effort on big campuses in the district might help turn things around.

Trying to overcome the suppression efforts there against those of Hispanic ethnicity (12% of the population) might also help, although there seems to be a push by the GOP to get beyond its racism just enough to appeal to that community’s more conservative and Xtianist elements.

Well, that’s basically only Berry College, Shorter College (a Christian institution), and Highlands College (community college institution)… Most people head down to Kennesaw or GSU for a BA at a 4 year institution, so… That’s probably not a huge swath of the population there, depending on how many keep their registration there.

But yes, GOTV efforts are critical across the board, not just with college students.

He’s been married to her for a long time, I’d say they’re likely both horrible people, she’s just more visibly horrible because she has a platform to shout from.

She’s already divorced from reality, so…
