Matt Gaetz says he used to date Cassidy Hutchinson. Her response: "I have much higher standards in men"

Or we can do both until there’s evidence that she’s moved on from the OTHER harmful Tump policies, not just the attempted overthrow of the government.

How do you support someone moving on while harping on their mistakes?

Matt Gaetz was voted Prom King 15 years running.

He remembers his first high school sweetheart. He was 30.

And what evidence do you have that she hasn’t? She’s been in hiding since she testified, and then wrote this book, which she’s doing interviews about… Has she done an indepth interview on her current political views? Could you maybe post that, if so? I’ve only seen the CBS interview with her, where the topic was her testimony and the aftermath?

Again, define “moving on.”

She’s firmly against the overthrow of the government. Good. Me too.

But has she “moved on” from the other harmful policies she helped implement?

When I see contrition for all of that, I’ll happily congratulate her on evolving and cheer her on. But not before.

Unless she has publicly disavowed those other beliefs, why would I believe someone who was an enabler has moved on?

You’re just making baseless assumptions though, with no evidence either way.

My assumption that she continues to hold the same beliefs until she says otherwise? Hardly.

Assuming that because she draws the line at treason that she’s had a wholesale change of heart without hearing those words from her mouth? THAT would be basesless.

I mean, she’s cut off from the GOP establishment. Like I said earlier, she tanked her career. Whether you think she’s moved on or not, that stage of her life is over. And she gave that up to tell the truth when everyone in that administration had orders to STFU and listen to the lawyers. So yeah, she’s moved on. In this respect, she did the right thing, it cost her. I support that. No matter what other transgressions one might imagine she is guilty of, I still fucking support her in this.

Yep, I’m glad she did this, too. So many others didn’t even do this much.

Now I’m looking forward to her (or any of her fellow Trump administration functionaries) disavowing punitive family separations at the border, or the notion that there were very fine people on both sides in Charlottesville, or instructing cops to rough up suspects, or just perpetually lying about EVERYTHING, or scuttling climate change policy, or designating shithole countries, or mocking a sexual assault survivor and disabled people, or pepper spraying protestors for a photo op, or, or, or.

But yes, she did one very good, significant thing.

So many incidents where she should have woken up and realized shit’s going sideways with her along for the ride. I’ve quit before on principal… damn good job too, had many eggs in that basket. But I saw the writing on the wall, the unwavering support for a boss that was unhinged.

She stayed in that pot of boiling water for too long, she’s just as bad as the rest of that lot.

recalls how the Florida Congress creep came on to her while they were colleagues, at one point brushing his thumb across her chin with the cornball pick-up line, “Has anyone ever told you you’re a national treasure?”

To work in politics, I would assume you must pretend to like and respect MANY people that you ordinarily would not associate with. Hell, it’s that way working at a University.

Which I did not assume. :woman_shrugging:

I agree with you…kudos to her for regaining some lost morals and standing up in the J6 hearings and testifying about the things she heard and saw but I’m not ready to absolve her from responsibility for all of the horrific policies she knowingly and openly supported through her association with the Trump presidency. She flat out admits to wanting to be a “loyal foot soldier” and stayed on with the administration until the very end and only when it became clear she wasn’t going to be given a plumb job a Mar-a-Lago.

Now she has a tell-all book out that she’s hawking to the cameras with some tacit mea-culpas in it but that’s not at all the same thing as taking accountability for her involvement with the most criminal administration in American history. She needs to do far more than that before I give her an ounce of absolution.

Hear, hear! She moved the scales in the right direction, but they’re FAR from balanced.

On the other hand, people I’ve pretended to like to get along with, I didn’t later characterize as “good friends.”
