A chameleon ranch will probably feature prominently in the next Carl Hiaasen book, in which a chameleon rancher turns out to also be your typical Florida Man.

Herpers … really? That’s the name they came up to?
Just as birders are people who engage in birding, herpers are people who engage in herping- observing and/or collecting herpetofauna (reptiles and amphibians). The term’s been used for decades.
I don’t always herp - but when I do, I… also do something else.
