It’s like “what if Trump cancels the pandemic”
Oh I didn’t know he could do that

You’re not wrong, and I responded poorly and apologize unreservedly. I intended to suggest that the opposition to the vote would sell it as a foolish choice, and I conveyed their narrative as my own without making it clear that I was projecting.
The vote is still the best weapon we have, and risking our lives to vote is better than to risk our lives in armed revolution. The point that I was lazily and inarticulately trying to make was that the primary threat is not going to be some militarily backed coup d’etat, but a persistent attempt to undermine the vote. This has been a gambit for decades and it will continue to be the case until such time as the Republican party returns to the table and honestly campaigns for the benefit of the many rather than the few.
Should we risk death to vote? Very probably, if that becomes the last option. However, before that becomes the case, we should push to ensure that all votes are counted, and that access to the polls is free and universal and present least risk to health and income.
If he decides to, and that’s entirely possible if he thinks he’s going to lose, then ignoring him won’t work. We already know he has no respect for tradition, common decency, or the law. And as long as there are 34 Republicans plus Mitt Romney in the Senate he can do whatever he wants with no fear of consequences. The Roberts Court will back him 5-4 no matter what he does, and the military will follow orders.
The “real life” you want to “go on with” is gone if he decides to wave his tiny little orange scepter.
In which case say “Hello, Constitutional Crisis!” followed by “Who gets the former United States’ seat on the UN Security Council?” Seeing as I live in the Western States Pact I can probably expect a visit from the 75th Rangers a couple days later.
OK then I guess we won’t have elections
Now what? Do I need to hoard toilet paper again?
The 2nd Amendment is ideology-neutral.
This means Liberals, rather, non-fascists own guns too, but chose not to announce the fact, let alone go open carry to compensate for phallic inadequacy.
USA firearm ownership is ~40% of all households.
I SEE NOW: the plan is “post solidarity memes”
Are you in a union?
Do you belong to your local chapter of the DSA or IWW or equivalent?
Are you involved in the mutual aid efforts of your local anarchists?
Do you know your neighbors? Do they got your back?
Will you work together when you’re under attack?
Or will it all dissolve into each for themselves?
Murder and rape, and gods know what else?
Will you fight for each other like Anarchists?
Or will you prey on each other, like Capitalists?
It’s up to you, up to me, up to all of us together
when the floods come it’s more then just bad weather
How’s this about me all of a sudden?
What are you doing to prepare for martial law and canceled elections in Tasmania?
Are you going to tell us about all the groups you belong to, on a public forum?
Michael Moore is primarily a peddler of alarmist stories and it’s in his interest to garner attention.
Trump has neither popular nor establishment support in majority. The government wonks have already gamed out Trump’s election interference ploys years before the fact. I don’t doubt that mechanisms and suasions are in place should 45 tamper with process too egregiously.
Remember that the “Obamagate” smear quickly dissipated when Barr confirmed that there wasn’t anything to prosecute.
Everyone but Trump is reconciled to his orderly removal from office.
It isn’t.
It’s about everybody; this is a public forum, and replies are directed at all readers, not just the person who is directly responded to.
There is no indication of that being a realistic possibility here. Australia, fortunately, is not yet as far down the road to collapse as the USA.
There are many commonalities between Oz and US society and politics (e.g. they are both a part of the global white supremacist capitalist empire), but they are not identical.
On the internet? Hell no. Electronic communication is a trap when it comes to organising.
But, when the question is asked, particularly when it is phrased in such a way as to suggest hopelessness, I will encourage people in general terms to make what I see as the appropriate preparations.
Not when you reply to a specific person and use that second-person pronoun they’re not
Now you’re contradicting the premise of the exercise again
ELECTIONS WILL BE CANCELED, that’s realistic, it says so right here
For what it’s worth, I don’t believe that the US elections will be cancelled.
I don’t think that the GOP needs to do that in order to remain in power, and I think that they will prefer to maintain the illusion of democracy as long as possible.
See, allowing air pollution saves everyone money!
This one always depresses me. The organized little fish have no teeth. The big fish might be scared off if it doesn’t look too closely, but if it turns around, it has a pretty nice meal.
Okay how about this. Trump does his best to screw up the election, creating as much FUD as possible. He leaves the whitehouse and goes directly into the Trump media network or whatever from which he broadcasts presidential-esque briefings with whitehouse-esque backdrops, continues to post to twitter, and does his best to undermine whatever leader took over from him.
He earns $$$ from TV ratings and continues treading water against a tide of legal action.
I give you points for the Japanese honeybee reference; they trap the murder hornet in their nest then roast his ass to death.
Would that we had the unity and solidarity of honeybees…
My guess is he has about as many carriers as the Viet Cong did. I’m betting Hong Kong is wishing they had a second amendment right about now.
Oh sure, those protesters would be facing WAY less state violence if they started a full-scale shooting war with the Chinese government.
