Michael Moore says Trump will use pandemic to cancel election

Now THAT I see as plausible.

This Vox article does a great walkthrough of the various possible scenarios.

Can Trump cancel the November election?

No.

Betteridge’s law of headlines in action!

If you could point out where I said either of those things, I can finally prove my keyboard is haunted

I know plenty of progressives who own and shoot and vote Dem etc, but online?

The “propaganda” is everywhere. It’s why I post “the 2nd amendment is for liberals too”

I’m not sure when the gun debate became the single issue voter bait it is, but removing that one issue from contention would also remove the one reason I see most why reasonable centrists don’t vote democrat.

The alternative is to be carried off to be killed or to rot in “reeducation camps” one by one for speaking up against the state like we do every five seconds here in BBS.

So what did you mean by the part of your post I quoted directly? The implication was that gun control was “irrational.” Your words, directly quoted.

You must have skipped a few history classes if you think The Second Amendment prevented the United States Government from hauling its own citizens into internment camps.

If you’d concentrate on the subject long enough you’d know there’s no camps here. We get to choose our own positions, some of which are shitty.

Quite the opposite. I bring up Roosevelt’s Executive Order 9066 to illustrate the need for the second amendment and specially when Trump tried juicing the Census with even more nosy questions. 9066 is the reason that I have only ever given the number of persons living in my home and not a single answer more since that is what was used to round them up. I consider that event, slavery, and the native american genoside the worst parts of our history.

We are getting off topic here so I’m not going to respond to this anymore except to once again point out that the Second Amendment failed to provide any protection whatsoever to the people affected by that Executive Order.

You quoted one word lol. The ban on arbitrary features of “scary guns” that have no effect on how many kids I can shoot at school is the irrational bit. Gun control isn’t irrational. You’re be hard pressed to find (real) people who think anyone should have any gun anywhere.

The anti-gun dems don’t even bother learning about it, they just say assault rifle for anything black and “tacticool”. Hell, Biden was like “shoot a shotgun in the air as a warning shot” (uh no), and yelling about banning an AR-14, which doesn’t exist.

Just some calm, informed rationale would go a long way to get what many progressives want, which is better access to mental help, reasonable background checks, and, yes, the zillion more voters to actually get it done.

After that word salad, “progressives” are the irrational ones? WTF, dude?

Reasonable gun control is always about the person, not the weapon. Because unlike the tagline, it’s the person who kills. That said, there are very few people who need military-grade hardware. You want to hunt? All you ever need is a bolt-action rifle. Live in grizzly country? A high-caliber revolver. Like to shoot targets? .22s are the best choice. But let’s face it: most mass shootings are done by 1. White, 2. Males, 3. With a history of domestic violence. Keep lethal weapons out of the hands of the combination of those three classes and you’ve got a recipe for success. But calling gun control itself “irrational” is total projection.

as far as the difference between needs & wants we differ, but I’m thinking you’re missing my point, like by a hemisphere

Are you sure you’re on this planet with that point? Because I have no idea what you’re saying. Do you have a point? Maybe you better just lay it out. Or is it a secret?

But everbody isn’t up for re-election in the Congress and Senate? Anwho the VOX article @funkboy3 linked to has the answer(s) but yeah, Constitutional Crisis time if US Federal Election cancelled in 2020.

1/3 of Senate, but all of the House. Every two years. Basically, they’re always campaigning. We need to shorten the campaign period prior to the election, just so that Representatives can, I don’t know, legislate?

If by “the Congress” you mean the House, then yes, everybody is up for re-election, including Pelosi
