Pence is 100% running for President. He’s been doing it ever since he accepted the VP nomination in 2016. Every move has been calculated for an eventual Presidential run, including this book. But he’s so clueless that he doesn’t realize that no amount of declaring himself the steady hand at the wheel during the Trump administration and a tower of courage under fire will keep a majority of GOP voters from looking at him and going “ew.”

It was commonly held that he wasn’t going to win a second term for governor in Indiana, and the party wasn’t even sure he’d win the primary for it (very unpopular, in a very red state no less), so attaching a safe ‘Christian’ white man from flyover country to Trump as his VP was the right play from the party’s POV. It gave him the perfect excuse to not re-run for governor.

Yeah, from what I’ve been reading in the past (more than a) few years, the ss detail hasn’t been exactly what you’d call best and brightest.
Also, fuck Pence and the bible he rode in on.
