Minneapolis ablaze after prosecutor suggests no crime was committed by cops who killed George Floyd

Follow-up: Floyd’s family didn’t exactly come away with the impression that he had any interest in hearing what they had to say on that phone call.

It occasionally shows up in centre-left “progressive” threads, but the radical left crew don’t much care for it, because they don’t want to be seen as endorsing the Boston Tea Party.

Not because they object to the tactics of property destruction, but because they object to the valorisation of a bourgeois pseudo-revolution that was substantially motivated by a desire to continue unrestrained slavery and genocide.

That’s excessively pedantic. Few people who might find such a comparison compelling would know such details, and they don’t matter for its persuasive value.

I’m not saying that it isn’t a potentially useful meme, I was just trying to explain why it isn’t seen as frequently as someone might expect.

Ah, got it, thanks for explaining. :+1:

I’m probably giving them too much linguistic credit, but the spokesperson did say he spoke to the family, not with them.

Meanwhile, MPD continues to fire on the press without provocation or justification:

Minneapolis native here, absent from events. My home town, my neighborhood, my family and friends, my people. Burned stores where I used to buy food, clothes, books. None of my friends and family injured, but some witnessed terrible things, rubber bullets hitting civilians.

I agree, it seems likely Chauvin knew what he was doing. I’m hedging “seems likely” in the spirit of objectivity, which I don’t possess in this case but I am at least going through the forms.

I try to be objective, or a least iterate as many permutations as I can imagine, running thought-experiments about other possible motives for thoroughness’ sake.

The worst of these thought-experiments – and for God’s sake do not repeat this, no joke – this is my personal Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas for the night – blowing off steam during a difficult passage –

Chauvin deliberately murdered George Floyd in a premeditated conspiracy with like-minded officers and outside collaborators to ignite civil war.

Now for fuck’s sake let that go and never speak of it.

I think spoke at is probably a more accurate description. Trump The cops expected no interaction and didn’t want to interact anyway.

(sorry, thought I was commenting to something else, but I think it still applies)

Never speak of it? Sorry, it’s too plausible for that ^^’. Just as some Christians feel it’s their job to accelerate the advent of the Apocalypse, there’s always been a core of die-hard racists that want to get a race war going post-haste.

It’s is bad, and it runs deep. Racism, old racism. Some bad thumper racist cops, doesn’t make us unique but we are supposed to be nice here, we try to hide such things.

September 20, 2019: " Minneapolis police union chief blames ‘ultra-left agenda’ for pack robberies"

[Bob ]Kroll spent most of the time talking about the Minneapolis City Council.

“They think that they know policing better than the person that they put in charge of the police department,” he said. “It’s an agenda here. It’s an ultra-left agenda that the police are the problem and it’s a racially-biased criminal justice system here, and we need to de-police. That’s the overtone of our council.”

Too true, alas. That is really why I said it, of course.

Well, I knew what I was doing when I wrote what I wrote.

I’m sure you understand that all I meant was, don’t go breaking my heart … don’t spread this idea casually, or at least don’t attribute it to me.

I appreciate the budgeting of precious resources like time and effort: killing two birds with one stone, as it were.

Plus, it’s literally targeting the history that has brought us to this point.

My secretary is parroting the Fox spin that it was fine when it was about one death, but now the response is too extreme, so I’ve once again had to point out that it’s not about ONE murder but rather a long history of murders going back hundreds of years.

This does not surprise me but it is very interesting and telling. I would wager that the “gets bored and we loose the training money” is a red herring. My guess is that if they are too smart they will become either a useles revenue generating officer (or thug enforcer) because of grasping the horrible realities of the profession or go the other way and become a small corrupt kingpin.

Imagine if Hong Kong protestors for democracy held a vigil of solidarity for USA protestors. That would be mind blowing.

If I was involved in the peaceful, activism group of the protest, I would organize a splinter to do nothing but actively collect intelligence on the looters and rioters, including identifying any who appear to be giving commands and following those until they enter a registered vehicle or remove their masks. My guess is that if these guys are a false flag operation, or some kind of opportunistic looters, their opsec is likely not high end. If it ends up being cops like has happened before, short of the NYPD, I doubt most forces have officers trained in counter intel.
