Minneapolis ablaze after prosecutor suggests no crime was committed by cops who killed George Floyd

Right?

There’s no fucking way I could do it; I’d have to hang up.

Of course that’s assuming I’d even answer an unknown number in the first place…

One would hope that the cops would tone down the violence a bit now that they know the world is watching, but alas…

@beschizza have you seen this?

I am in awe of this video. It could be released as a feature film. It could be taught at universities.

It doesn’t show us everything but by the end we understand exactly what was going to happen next.

And there it is. In other words “Let me just interrupt your experience and expertise with my unfounded confidence.”

Your initial comment implied that you felt you knew what you were talking about, not unfounded theories based on nothing.

Speculating is not helpful in these situations. Continuing to push speculations when people with experience have told you that you are wrong is actively obstructive and derailing. Maybe try acting a little less like an expert when speaking on matters outside your experience or area of expertise.

Tomi and her ilk always make me think the only significant change I would make to George Orwell’s 1984 is “imagine a boot that was being licked stamping on a human face forever”.

Protesters are in the right. “America” as an ethos has issues, for sure, but I’d say this is as close as you’re gonna get to the embodiment of what I’d consider to be “real American” behavior. The cops need to be taken down a bunch of notches, and so do many of the capitalists and the politicians in this country. We should stop killing black people, plain and simple.

Now that is a first!

You have obviously never been on the other side of a cop who is high on addrenaline, dopamine, and completely full of their own richeousness. You can just see them pull up their rage against all the things other peole have done to them or in front of them that they dissagree with and if they decide to mentally paint you with it and “other” you with it, then you are fucked. If you find yourself in this position and do anything but cower with your tail between your legs while expressing deference to their absolute and glorious authority then you will be attacked, and in this man’s case, murdered.

Once again: I wasn’t implying that steroids cause racism; all they do is making who takes them more prone to violence and aggressiveness, all tracts you wouldn’t want in someone with detainment power, wearing an uniform and carrying a gun.
As for bad cops without drugs, in other words cops that normally use excessive violence when in full mental abilities, yes, they do exist, which just shows how flawed is their selection. So the question should be: why if it has been so evident for decades/centuries the selection is fucked up, nobody does a thing? Could their selection be flawed on purpose? To keep people put for fear of even worse repression? To exercise dictatorship dressed as democracy? To divert people fear and hatred to them instead of those giving them orders? etc. …too many to choose from.

Much of it is purposeful. It’s no accident that many, if not most police forces refuse to hire any trooper with an IQ over 120. Yes, really.

And so on.

Too true.

Though of course, patriotic Muricans don’t always consider property destruction during riots a bad thing.

Been really baffled as to why I hadn’t seen this rather obvious parallel mentioned yet.

(ETA: A bit more in the thread but this is the meat of it.)

If you mean why this parallel that seems obvious to us isn’t common knowledge, I think it’s because most wypipo see one protest as legitimate, and the other as senseless acting out by black people, who “as we know” are ruled by their passions. Oh, and by what again strikes wypipo as an innate desire, that of stealing stuff.

Because most people don’t realize how much property damage and rioting was done in the early days of the American revolution (because the way that history is told to us is incredibly sanitized), and I’d guess many white Americans would not see the parallels anyway.

ER… or what @anon15383236 said, since I didn’t scroll down first!

Well, except yes, yes it totally is

Jared can justify it as a false-flag theory that happens to be true this time, and prove it somehow

or he can accept that this whole line of argument is another example of the Horseshoe Theory, where centrists and moderates keep saying that “extremists on both sides” are not only equally bad but basically indistinguishable, maybe even working together

Except he’s not really "both sides"ing it at all. He’s pointing out that the bulk of the damage isn’t from the left. That it’s RW assholes using the protests as cover to blame the left. He’s saying that the truly destructive shit that the media is calling “protest” is not actually from the protesters, but RW fuckers looking to start a race war.

Which is what they do. They fucking brag about it.
