I think it’s the “b” in burgers. If one changed it to hurgers or sturgers or plurgers, they’d never figure it out. The diphthongs make it incomprehensible to legislatures.
And yet meat is dead.
They’d be okay with ‘boogers’, however. Tofuboogers. Vegeboogers. Salmonboogers. Juicyboogers, sure.
Bean turd
And you know, they won’t even let you sell real grilled dogs. They hate freedom!
Not all meat.
Eventually, sure, after the flesh-eating bacteria work their way across your paralyzed body starting at fingers and toes and inexorably proceeding to your juicy core. That may take time. You’ll be live meat till then. Enjoy.
Oh god, I can’t stop laughing.
NO FREE SEX in Ole Miss.
Remember, meat is dead.
As myself and other people noted above, people with allergies so severe that they can cause health issues are most definitely in the habit of checking labels. And no plant-based product hides their source of protein.
The recent beyond meat marketing left me with the question- “what is it?” Now the answer was not difficult to find but after a week or so of being bombarded with ads and announcements I would have thought it would have been more obvious without having to look. (No idea how oblivious I was being)
Outlawing calling stuff burgers is just stupid and does nothing to help people know the contents of their food. As all here agree the original subject has nothing to do with helping consumers.
Peanuts are legumes - peas - as are lentils (also with health effects), garbanzos-chickpeas (ditto), frijoles refritos, every bean and bean dip, et al. Just as Solanaceae (tomato, potato, datura, tobacco, peppers, eggplant, petunia) share proteins, so do Fabaceae (legumes). Thus pea allergies aren’t surprising.
They are not surprising but there is going to probably be a spike in people discovering that this is an issue as pea protein based products become more mainstream.
From Wikipedia on food allergies:
Common foods involved include cow’s milk, peanuts, eggs, shellfish, fish, tree nuts, soy, wheat, rice, and fruit.
Yes, we need to read labels carefully.
More strawmen - show me the product where pea protein is not labelled, please. Because the products I have that use it not only label it, but call out the potential allergy specifically.
Or at least decerebrated. Trump demands the cerebral vacuum.
