Probably B. A would not work here
Got the barrels plugged. Used a jack nut (?) and putty epoxy. Painted the tips, the front of the barrel bushings, and the screws in the plugs. Didnât get to test the BLAM! props, hopefully they fit ok or I will be sanding.
Got drawing paper and pens as I want to get one or two sketches - and sometimes they donât bring paper.
Need to dig out my Star Wars book (I know where that is) and a few comics hiding in the long boxes (deep in the land of forgotten collectables.)
Should be able to get there when it opens at noon. I will report back later.
I got the impression from your posts that you were a woman, maybe Iâm wrong? In any case, I donât think that the negative association with fedoras carries over to women. I gave mine to my girlfriend because I couldnât wear it anymore, but she pulls it off rather nicely.
If you need an MP3 rip of Link Wray lmk., (this one sounds pretty good anyways https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLjpAQyJLD8), with a bluetooth speaker you could be walking around to your own them song.
Because every hero needs a theme song!
Did you plug both chamber and muzzle? Seems like you would need to do so for safety. Or what are common con guidelines on inoperability?
Why would Japan require it, they are all law abiding enough that they donât need blaze orange indicators. They just need to blur out those private parts and everything is A-OK! Thumbs up, peace sign, coca-cola, and leviâs.
No, youâre correct.
Sadly, in my area, youâd be incorrect on that one.
Fedoras, pork-pies, stringys, derbys, duckbills; those damn âmillennialâ kids have co-opted them all.
Plus, they need to get the hell off my lawn.
*lolz
Holy cow, did not know about this until now now. Neat.
They just say inoperable. With the reciever plugged with over 2 inches of steel and steel hard epoxy, it isnât going to let anything pass through it ever again. Scroll up, those 3D Printed BLAM!s will be in the muzzles.
The best part of being a large collector of stuff, is rediscovering things you forgot you had.
So that series above that Baker did? Sienkiewicz STARTED that series, and I have three of the first 5. Well this will give me some cool stuff to hunt, as hunting for comics is half the fun!
Good news, I DID have some of those Elektra books by Sienkiewicz. STILL donât have a complete set, but almost⌠But I will have at least one extra copy of #1 signed if you want it. It isnât 100% mint, but in good shape.
Seriously I am good. I am trying to get rid of things at this point in my life.
Me too! You arenât helping!
Nah, he was just always very cool
Also, +10 for awesomesauce
I think you can go in after the fact and change the w and h manually. Weird that it autosquished.
GOOD SHOW MAN
âAre the preacher from the exorcist?â
âNo, god damn itâŚâ
I hurt so bad. Not used to walking/standing this much with out a cane.
I am taking my kid tomorrow and I found a neat old brick wall in an alley nearby for her to take some good pics of my costume. I had one fan said they would send me pics, after I sent them a pic of me and this other fan who showed up as The Spirit (old school represent!) But, damn it, I got his number wrong, so he couldnât send it back to me. Son of a bitch.
It is mostly older guys who want pics, with the above fan eager to share with his father (and this guy looked to be in his 50s). But I have had a lot of kudos and recognition. The younger folks seem stoked when they get it right. One said his dad told him about The Shadow (parenting done right). Most common mix up - Darkman.
I was able to find several Shadow comics I needed, completing the M W Kaluta run in the 70s, and finding the missing books from the 80s series by Bill Sienkiewicz, Howard Chaykin, and Kyle Baker. And I found a few newer ones, especially Tim Bradstreet covers.
Tim Bradstreet is as cool a he was last year. I got two prints of Shadow covers. He will be doing a picture for me tonight.
Howard Chaykin was very humble. He did a head sketch for me. Also had him sign my LE Topps Star Wars Galaxy 1 book. If you didnât like some of his work in the 80s, I even heard him talk about how he was an angry 31 year old drug addict back then and thus he couldnât continue the same work from back then as he wasnât the same person.
Bill Sienkiewicz was a super nice guy, though he did charge for autographs. Well, he gave you two free ones and they were $3 after that. Still WAY cheaper than Neal Adams, who I skipped this year. He geeked out over my props and we talked about him being into the high end Japanese airsoft guns. I got him to sign my Star Wars book, Shadow #1, and Elektra: Assassin #1 (I got both signed so one is up for grabs). Unfortunately, the guy is $$$ for even a sketch. He was gone half the time today from his booth, so when he was there he was busy (and he was late Fri from missing his plane.) So I didnât go back today. Though if I can, I will try to see if he will give me something small for a pity price.
So here is the pic of me with this nice lady playing The Spirit.
OK, first the sketches:
NOT mine, but some other fan who had several people draw The Shadow on one page.
Howard Chaykinâs quick sketch.
Tim Bradstreetâs longer sketch. He was busy but managed to get it done before the end of the day. I really like the hatch work.
And finally found an alley to get some full body shots. Had several more complements today. Again it was a mix of older fans knowing who I was, and younger people proud to know who I was.
And as much as I enjoyed using my real steel props, I think I am going to take these two cheap air soft guns, fill the lettering with putty, and then paint and possibly put faux ivory grips on them. Then have my friend make new pegs for the BLAM! props that will fit in the smaller holes. Main reason, weight. Shit adds up after all day. 2nd reason, I kept them in my holsters 99% of the time, so looks arenât that important. and 3rd, the airsoft is closer to what would have been used in the 30s and 40s looks and design wise - because looks do matterâŚ
Your costume really turned out great!
The sound effects look awesome! This is sweet!
Although now I want to call you Mister .45ACP
