I was waiting for (what I was certain was) the inevitable, which never happened.
I.e. “Oh god damnit oh shit sweet balls” etc.
Hooray for good teachers. Even as a kid I knew how this worked - I remember my grade 2 class. 'd look at the class misbehaving and causing problems and look at the teacher and think to myself that we had been so well behaved the year before and the thing that had changed was the teacher.

I have taught in the English private school system, I have a child who teaches in the State system and disruptive pupils are disruptive regardless of socio-economic status.

Also, most continental Europeans would have more than a few words for those conflating them with Britons. For that matter, most Britons would have a few words for those conflating them with the Irish.
The ancestry of most ‘white’ Americans is a hodgepodge of some or most of the above.

From my experience working retail I can believe it.
A lecherous elderly gentleman wouldn’t keep his hands off of a female colleague once, and both the store manager and ASM just stood there doing nothing. After I swallowed back the bile, I kited the guy out of the store, and let him know if he comes back in he better call an ambulance first.

I know some folks are worried for their jobs, but I’m oddly confident that in my town getting fired for something like what we’ve been discussing would probably guarantee me a better job elsewhere.

Oh, I wasn’t talking about the students. I was talking about school administrators, with their zero-tolerance policies, who automatically assume the students are up to no good, treating them as convicts rather than as children.
