Musk fantasizes an agreement to hold his cage match in Rome

You are referencing a citation added to Musk’s thing Formerly Known as a Tweet to explain where the quote came from. That is added by Boing Boing and not RawStory.

Prince named himself the symbol. Media companies called him “Formerly Known As.” Your history is perhaps not correct. This is off-topic. Please stop. Free free to create a topic to discuss Prince’s cool moves, he could have his own topic but this ain’t that.

Reflecting their statuses as social media overlords - how about the Cloaca Maxima?

There is only one venue stupid enough for this stupid match: The repaired SpaceX launchpad.

Musk and Zuck having it out on that massive steel plate flame deflector would be awesome. And if the action becomes tedious, a good drenching with several hundred thousand gallons of water from the pad’s deluge system should spice things up.

It’s a pretty remarkable achievement that Musk has somehow made Zuckerberg look like the adult in the room by comparison.

Fanbois have been known to be not entirely rational.

My guess is that the Italian government is expecting something like the Cinecittà, a fake venue for fake humans.

None of this information is contradictory. Ancient Roman[1] doesn’t have to mean in the city of Rome. They might have offered him a historic arena in some other place. As I said in another thread on this, I don’t put it past the current literally fascist government of Italy to take advantage of this for some perceived image polishing with the billionaire crowd and their simps.

ETA: my bet is on Verona arena

:white_check_mark: Modern infrastructure
:white_check_mark: Easy to reach
:white_check_mark: In a major city
:white_check_mark: Traditionally right-wing city (even if currently with a left wing mayor)

  1. Yes, I realise Elon said “Ancient Rome” rather than “Ancient Roman”, but we all know he’s not the sharpest bulb in the stable ↩︎

Not going to lie, I would gladly watch Zuckerberg beat the shit out of Musk.

At Cinecittà, the sets make history.

A backlot of ten hectares, surrounded by the parkland of Cinecittà, with several imposing and legendary sets that have gained a permanent place in the heart of the Cinecittà Studios lot, ready to live again with every new screenplay. These sets offer viewers of every generation a glimpse into life in another era with designs of great visual impact, where even the smallest details are perfect. The sets of Ancient Rome and the Temple of Jerusalem lend themselves to a variety of ancient settings, while Florence in the 1400s can be transformed into a medieval city centre. St. Peter’s façade is instead a great solution for Vatican-related settings.

Furthermore, these sets also offer the ideal setting for special events.

Yeah, as if a couple of American oligarchs* are going to know the difference between a movie set and the real thing. And Meloni’s administration is full of con men and cronies itself, so they would have no qualms about ripping off the loaded tourists.

There are no goo people in this, including the Italian government.

*Say what you will, from an Italian perspective Musk is typical American oligarch.

Make it a fight to the death, no quitting, and you might conjure up a little extra enthusiasm.

I have drunkenly participated in nighttime mock gladiator fights in that arena as a student.

I doubt it will still happen after this

I must say, I don’t think much of those fellows’ longsword technique. Harrumph!

The word has lost its meaning then.

On a slightly lighter note, Boris “Bullshitter” Johnson has offered to fight the winner of the cagematch, according to the “Fail on Sunday”.

I showed the headlines to some friends at my local who, quite sportingly, offered to train him up for the big day, gratis, which I thought nice of them…

Ah yes, two “gentlemen” in Verona. How fitting.
