Genocide. Precisely the word we need to be using these days. It sounds alarmist, but we are seeing deliberate and methodical steps toward femicide and LGBTQ+ genocide being enacted across this nation. It is no less consequential or grave than this and I’m fairly certain he repeats that word for a reason.
Much love for Neil of course, and his speech was beautiful. But Maya Wiley spoke with such truth to power it gave me chills, and that should be the lead on this story.
One of the many frightening aspects of DeSantis’ attempt to transform New College into the Hillsdale College of Florida is that he and his followers are perfectly capable of expunging Gaiman’s aunts’ collection from the library. Some of these fascists would insist on burning the books.
