This is a very rough source. Maybe Breitbart has an opinion you’d also care to boost?
@EllsworthToohey I also noticed that you shared no opinion regarding the content of the article. Do you agree or disagree with what is said by Gurwinder? For the record: I disagree with his viewpoint.
One side uses tried and true forms of activism to bring attention to issues of oppression and to improve society. The other uses violence, terrorism, and threats of violence to impose oppression on the rest of us… Truly, both sides are bad!!! /s
Jesus, can we give it a rest with these false equivalences… it’s always been bullshit and it doesn’t actually help us understand what’s happening in our society.
You’d think “both sides do this, just in completely different ways for completely different ends” would be enough of a sign that using the same neologism is burying the point.
“The Right”: Destructive, violent, dangerous, selfish ends
“The Left”: Creative, annoying, mostly harmless, altruistic ends
Clearly #bothsides are awful, the world is shit, we’re all going to die anyway, so who cares?
That’s my tl;dr summary of this topic. I’ll be here all week.
Don’t protest like that! No, not like that either! Just go home and never protest, ever!
Christ on a cracker, this is a bad hot take.
WE can, but the contributors who post such minimum-effort engagement bait seem incapable of reaching for anything but the lowest hanging fruit.
IIRC it was “Ellsworth Toohey” who wrote that awful BB post about Shelley Duvall. BOOO
FTFY
It was, and whoever actually wrote that content is a real asshole, IMHO.
I don’t know what the end goal is of having authors who seem to be actively trolling the community, but I can say this:
As long as you protest somewhere where I can’t see or hear you, and that doesn’t force me to confront my own biases and culpability in the world’s problems, or inconveniences me in any way, then you may continue.
#engagement, I guess.
As much as I try to avoid these topics, I always find myself getting sucked into them. For all the “advanced” AI shit Discourse has added over the past few months, it’s still not advanced enough to let me preemptively mute boing topics by certain authors.
That’s a major part of the problem; we CAN mute the less competent authors, but their posts will still appear in the list of topics.
I know, because I already tried.
I’m kind of surprised to find that there is a BB contributor using a nom de plume from an Ayn Rand novel… :-/
Yeah that was pointed out the first time they posted. We would all like an answer to that.
Everything in every way re: this article is complete bullshit!
