What’s a Gungan?
You don’t wanna know, Mr Sutherland.
*adds albill to muted list*
Wait, we have a muted list?
Allegedly.
It only blocks notifications, and doesn’t work on @system anyway.
Wait, isn’t that, like, ALL of JarJarBinks?
The biggest problem I had with the Star Trek movies, (And there was no way I wasn’t going to find some fault with a reboot) was how it was trying so hard to prove it was trek when it should have been more concerned with actually telling a worthwhile story, from Sulu’s fencing which was originally a minor plot point turned into a signifier of trek cred to Into Darkness trying to recreate Wrath of Khan, which is essentially like making act II into two thirds of act III. Pëople (my wife) who didn’t see Wrath of Khan don’t care either way and people who did see it (Me and my 8 year old son, who couldn’t sit through Episode One BTW) were just thinking wrath of Khan is better.
Abrams makes good popcorn movies, I’ve yet to see him do anything that breaks new ground though. I expect the episode VII will be fine, but its going to be very hard for any filmmaker to make something really special out of the bloated mess that is the Star Wars Universe.
That’s what I was expecting, but there’s so much of it left and apparently salvageable. Who leaves ships out in the dessert other than to remind you that these ships exist. If the people that live on that planet don’t care about it, whats the point of pointing out that this was once a battlefield? If they do care and it was important to the story, couldn’t this be shown in much more interesting and meaningful ways?
All my first hand experiences with this tell me otherwise.
Amen.
You really wanted to like that movie didn’t you?
I’ll just leave this here:
The biggest problem I had was that Spock’s character was changed from “the one guy you can count on to always stay calm and collected” to “the guy who is constantly losing his shit and giving someone a violent beat-down.” Kids teasing him at school? Violent beat down. Kirk egging him on about his mommy? Violent beat down. Role-reversed remake of the death scene from Star Trek II? You KNOW Khan is gonna get a violent beat-down.
Except that planet isn’t Tatooine.
Isn’t the reason for difficulty wielding lightsabers that they have intense gyroscopic effects resisting changes in orientation?
Yup. There is a TON of lore around lightsabers.
