Nikki Haley finally understands MAGA — and she's dropping out of the race

The media has incentivized itself to push Trump - he makes them the bigly money. His actual numbers in these primaries are not so awesome, if you step back and have a look.

That’s entirely it. “If it bleeds, it leads”. Trump is a constantly, daily train-wreck that sells ads.

Gee…what a shock.

My beloved watched the CNN coverage all night but I could only abide five minutes at a time before leaving the room. It was excruciating watching two guys wearing nice suits and sober expressions rattling breathlessly about the significance of Haley seeing a 1/32 of a percent rise in Blowhole County, North Carolina as if it made one whit of difference in the “race.”

Will Trump be the Republican candidate? Will he? Huh, will he? We can’t be sure…in the meantime let’s toss in another team sports analogy. And remind everyone that Biden is old while Trump is not.

It may not be good for America, but it’s damn good for CBS.

I do agree it does more to hurt Biden, but I don’t know if it makes Trump more popular… I think that, while he still has his hardcore cultists, other republicans are more resigned than anything else. They might not like Trump, but they’ve bought into the “democrat party is always worse” narrative and can’t bring themselves to vote for Biden because of that, even if they are aware of what he’s done.

And I absolutely agree that the media is the core problem here.

But if we go back to the problem being the media, how can we trust the media if they keep saying that Trump IS more popular than Biden?

Yes, I’m aware.

i’m not sure i buy that. Trump only won those super tuesday states by anywhere from 50-60%. that’s not a super strong showing. meanwhile, Biden won his contests by 80-90%. the narrative may be that people are concerned about Biden, but when it comes down to it, they will vote for him. I’m thinking Trump is going to be one of those “stronger in the Primary, loser in the General” types.

All of the hyperbolic reporting on the border issues even has the never Trumpers that I know actually considering voting for him. That combined with the shameless, groveling MAGA cult is unfortunately making Trump more likely than not the 2024 winner. I just wish we could get congress to do their jobs and not leave all policy decisions to the president.

A week? You have more faith than I do. I wouldn’t be surprised if the phone lines to Florida aren’t already sounding out the VPship.

The American Samoa vote is so risible, “Palmer beats Biden by 64% to 44%” sounds kind of impressive until the surface is scratched, and it turns out to be “Palmer beats Biden by 51 votes to 40 votes.”:smile:

The media is interested in propping the orange bastard for as long as they can with full support for his potential next term. They can’t help it. They’re addicted to another Tr*mp’s presidency because everyday always has “news worthy” statements vomited out to feed their for-profit-rage-induced-propaganda machine, not like Biden where the only thing they can come up with is his age.

Is that true? We’re 7 months out. I’m worried that if they blitz us now with Biden’s accomplishments, he’ll get a bump now instead of later when it matters.

Why not bump it good ALL THE WAY until Nov 04?

Those voters are likely to stay home rather than vote for T****, and that will help Dems in down-ballot races. Better to have the MAGA 27% show up and the rest of the GOP stay home and pick up some red-leaning seats in congress and state houses than have them show up for Haley and vote straight R downticket.
