There is a lot of money involved, and - to paraphrase Ben Aaronovitch - for some people forensic accounting is a bloodsport.
Pass the popcorn.

The link to this comments area at the bottom of the original story is… back to the original story (it’s missing the /244400 bit). I got here by going to the comments on a different story and scrolling down to the comments link for this story, there.

Perhaps the court should go after his wife and other confederates helping this scumbag hide money to send a clear message to the others.

They would be accessories to financial crimes, after all.

If Jones was a Black man selling loose cigarettes, this would be taken care of by now. But the American legal system is completely helpless against white people, no matter how rotten they may be.

At some point- this has to become a criminal matter. Even if just for lying to the court about his assets.

Isn’t there a court-appointed trustee in charge of Jones’ finances now? (Which is why he was whining about how big his allowance should be.)

This could just be the part where they’ve opened the books and are making a list of the dumbshit things Jones did to try to hide his money over the last few years. Next will come the big clawback.

I get your point about White privilege and the immense racial disparity within the US legal/justice system, but the phrasing is really poorly chosen.

No one ever ‘deserves’ extrajudicial execution via police brutality, not even an insufferable hate-mongering bigoted asshat like Jones.

Would this not make Jones guilty of contempt of court? Is it possible that this stunt will result in Jones actually serving jail time? The original case was civil, so jail time wasn’t a possibility, but evading a court order in this way is actually criminal AFAICT as somebody who isn’t a lawyer.

Seriously… how about we push for actual justice, rather than just accept things as they are…

*If anybodythinks they’re shuttingme down, they’re mistaken

Alex Jones*

Hardly anyone wants to shut you down Mr. Jones. They’ve just lost interest in you since you’ve become what you once covered. Remember the Bohemian Grove expose? People thought you were entertaining then. Then you started making money and sacrificed your soul on the Owl Shrine. Anything for clicks to sell your supplements. Your audience has dwindled through your own actions. The Sandy Hook lies which you have since acknowledged were your most egregious. Now you have to pay.

exposé needs scare quotes as, surprise, surprise, that was made up too.

Well, acknowledged, then repeated, then acknowledged, then denied, then repeated, ad nauseam.
