That and the fact that the octopus just wanted the lid off, but did not want to come out, prove that octopodes are truly the cats of the sea. Any one familiar with cats (or internet videos) has seen the same scenario play out countless times with boxes and doors respectively.

I’m going to eat as many as I possibly can. It’s the only chance we have to prevent the invasion.
I fear that all of our octopus smarts experiments will only serve as a training ground for their eventual takeover. We are teaching them to do the things that will kill us all. “Watch as octopus army assembles 300 automatic rifles and fires them on unsuspecting scientists!”
