Agreed. Russia is not unique in that regard, as any American here will attest. Even a repressive regime supported by 1/3 of the adult population can fall, though. War weariness brought down the Tsar in 1917. Too early to say if that will happen this time, but incompetent handling of military logistics, bewildered troops in the field, and middle-aged mothers on the homefront crying about the fate of their boys are never good signs for a war-mongering Russian autocrat.
