There shouldn’t be religious indoctrination in school at all… it’s not just about lining Trump’s pockets…
I’m not even sure a curriculum requirement rises to the status of a law. That would require all schools, not just the public ones, to use this edition of this text, and I’d bet that some of the christian schools would object to the government telling them what to teach.
Odd that the business loving economic conservatives are so geared towards paying $60 for a book that’s been in the public domain for a couple thousand years.
It’s very impressive that he manages to be so faithful to all the ideals of the modern Republican party, in that not only is he trying to impose his chosen religion on others but it’s also a grift, and he’s transferring public money to a selected private business by paying inflated amounts for cheap crap and he’s putting on a display of loyalty to the cult leader and he’s helping to enrich the Maximum Boss.
It’s like a … what is that … a hexafecta of corruption? Bravo, State Superintendent, impressive work.
A hexaflexacon, not be confused with this.
The more you turn it, the more recursive the scam.
I’m going to pull together a print on demand version and put in a bid there at half price.
History is lost on these people. They see no problem with burning books, putting undesirables in camps, electing a dictator, etc… It feels like arguing with literal Nazis anymore.
They understand history matters… they just want to have a twisted version of history being used to indoctrinate young people. Because they want that kind of society.
Oklahoma will be watching Louisiana carefully to see what happens this week. There will be the first court hearing on the new law requiring the “10” commandments be displayed in all La. public schools. There should be an injunction delaying the law from being implemented until a full trial on its unconstitutionality, but who knows these days
Why do I feel like Trump (or more likely, one of his smarter puppet-masters) changed enough words from one of the modern editions to claim copyright? I used to see this play out all the time back in the days when I worked in academic publishing. An author would balk when I told them they were quoting way too much from Dostoevsky, and they’d argue (only partly correctly) that it was in the public domain. And it is…in the original Russian. The modern-day translations are still under copyright.
The Trump Bible uses the King James Version text.
Or, going in a different direction, by claiming Trump is anointed by God, so all other Bibles are heresy, and must be immediately burned. So set them on fire now, and order The One True Bible ®, operators are standing by.
Per @GagHalfrunt’s link, the book is larded with texts other than the Bible (e.g. the U.S. Constitution, the lyrics to the Greenwood song) . I assume the sleazeballs would try to assert copyright over the entire edition based on some original sections “written” by von Clownstick or by others.
In any case, it’s hard to see the kind of sucker who purchases this item making wise financial decisions as a consumer in general. Indeed, it’s hard to see a lot of them cracking a book at all.
Wait, an expanded Bible that contains teachings about the Americas? Where I have I heard that before…
MORMONS! TRUMP IS A MORMON!
(Seriously, after all the crimes and bullshit, being a Mormon might be the one thing that would turn his flock against him. Forever burned in my mind is an on-the-street-interview with a guy exiting the polls during the Obama-Romney match up. When asked if he would say how he voted, he said, “Well, I had a choice between a [racial slur] and a Mormon, so I voted for the [racial slur].”)
Does it have annotations “explaining” the constitution?
My brain interpreted that as “MORONS. TRUMP IS A MORON.”
Alas, after the Bill of Rights, Trump’s version of the Constitution just erases the rest of the text from constitutional law like it’s the Apocalypse of Peter.
From Meidas Touch News:
Multiple video reviews analyzed by MeidasTouch revealed that notably missing from the Constitution in Trump’s Bible are the amendments following the Bill of Rights which make up the Constitution’s first 10 amendments. Trump’s Bible jumps from the original Constitution to the Bill of Rights and then to the Pledge of Allegiance, skipping constitutional amendments 11-27.
This, of course, allows Trump’s most loyal fans the luxury of not dwelling on the end of slavery, equal protection, a couple voting rights amendments, or the income tax. Limiting Trump to two possible terms as president gets overlooked as well.
One of the best headlines from the Onion reads “Area Man Passionate Defender Of What He Imagines Constitution To Be.” Back then, ill-informed citizens just cobbled together a rudimentary worldview from talk radio and cable news. Trump can go one better and peddle a new canon of constitutional law for his most gullible followers to cite as literal gospel.
Fourteenth Amendment? Not in OUR Constitution… look it up, libs!
Hey, maybe we’ve finally found something Trump would be willing to hand over to the National Archives!

Ummm, because it is. Except for the actual moniker, there is precious little difference, if any at all.
In the Book of Mormon, the angel that visits Joseph Smith was named Moroni, so technically they should have called themselves morons or moronis. Neither seems like a great option, although I don’t now if the addition of the “m” made it significantly better.
