Old Paul Ryan gaffe goes viral: "We're not going to give up on destroying the health care system"

Mission Earth. (I’m a Scientology critic, I have to know these things.)

I hope the bastard’s been crying himself to sleep since Thursday.

Because he’s the real victim here.

I’ll consider it a badge of pride that I got the name wrong!

I remember being interested and excited about the series, and read the first book? But quickly lost interest and took great delight in the skewering reviews and articles.

I thought that Rand was on the “other right”.

The one with Libertarians. See here.

Paul Ryan is in the Cracker Barrel Camp. But I see that American Libertarians are waay more authoritarian then True Libertarians.

Those are two different sets of axes. The first graph is voter turnout vs Democrat-Republican skew as a function of fast food restaurant type. The second graph is social/authoritarian position vs economic position as a function of partisan identity. These graphs aren’t even comparable.

At the time (four years ago) Paul Ryan said “we are not going to give up on destroying the healthcare system for the American people”, it was widely presumed to be a Freudian slip or gaffe, simply because no-one could believe he really meant to say just that.

Now, after his bill bluntly and explicitly attempted to follow through on that promise, it appears to have been a plain statement of intent.

That wasn’t a comparison of the two. It was just about Libertarians ®™ vs libertarians.

I read it as saying that the two charts represented the same thing, but it was hard to follow the reasoning there. It very well could have been two nonrelated points, but I’m still failing to make the connection between Rand Paul ad CiCi’s.
