I haven’t seen any lists for the US or Canada yet, but I’ll put them up if I see them

Proper panic buying in Oxford U.K. today. The shelves are almost stripped bare. No fresh produce, no meat, no tins of beans, no bread, no TP, no paracetamol, no soap. It’s not quite at the point where there are zero calories in the store, but you’re picking up the last of random unappealing items

the biggest trouble is where republicans will pull the money from.

every attempt will be made to lock in their anti-government agendas. big deficit spending, tax cuts, raiding the epa, social security, food aid, etc.

[edit] rather than checks, they should be using unemployment. that’s my opinion anyway. the focus on individual people over big businesses is right - you just have to assume the republicans will use every attempt as a trojan horse

I had actually been thinking about getting a new gun a few weeks ago, but since this blew up, all non-essential purchases are on hold for the duration, because I have friends and family who are going to need financial help to get through this, and I won’t know how much it will take until it’s over.

Data centres are warm and designed to move air very efficiently. Are they safe to visit during the pandemic?

Orfanos also suggested following the general advice on personal hygiene (wash hands a lot, sneeze into elbows, practice social isolation as much as possible) and World Health Organisation workplace safety guidance (PDF) to regularly disinfect work surfaces, keyboards and telephones.

The USA’s Centre for Disease Control (CDC) makes similar recommendations, calling out “tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks” as worthy of a daily microbe massacre.

I had a fun experience a few minutes ago

At Walmart I watched an elderly woman on a scooter who looks like she would be knocked out cold by the covid virus screech out her lungs out because she could not eat in Subway. She left after several Subway & Walmart employees said that they called the cops on her.

They were only looking out for that screeching dipshit’s health by enforsing those restrictions

And all it took was a global pandemic and the deaths of thousands. One of those hasn’t stopped Facebook before.

Seven now.

They haven’t closed the airports yet, but pressure is (belatedly) building.

The graph image cuts off the last digit for NSW; it’s ~215, not 21.

Well that just further reinforces the idea of calling off the Olympics this year
