While, much to my relief, my parents are taking this seriously and doing the right thing, I’ve nonetheless noticed such odd reversals from my youth in recent years. In particular, when my folks are home from Arizona, I’m generally the one cooking meals, and then there was the time I had to help my mother get a bandage on after she got a cut.

Turns out, relying on routing emergency compensation through unemployment insurance requires employers to fire their staff so they can claim it. Not everybody is doing that, they’re just expecting them to remain employed while working zero hours.
Yep. And if you quit from your ZERO HOUR schedule, that usually disqualifies you from unemployment.

Just surveying the ADS-B map, at the moment I don’t see any private jets at all in the Chicago area, and there’s normally one or two at any given time.
This is really intetesting, and I hope never necessary, but in the current situation almost certainly will. There are issues, which she touched on. Mostly that there is no way to individually adjust the pressures, PEEP and I:E ratios as the various patients condition changes. But as a desperation measure, I can certainly see this being useful. Like @Mercenary_Garage’s homebrew ventilator, the fact that people are thinking along these lines indicates a realization of how serious the stew we are in actually is.
