Ongoing coronavirus happenings

Yep. From the article also:

That’s to Governor Pritzker. Who’s Jewish.

[Photographer] Kosuth, who lost a friend and colleague to the coronavirus this week, said he was disgusted by the sign.

How dare you compare the Holocaust to a stay at home order?” he said.

Exactly.

Some rare good news:

Reminds me of when some Obama-hatin’ town hall attendee asked Barney Frank why he supported the “Nazi plan” for universal health care. Never mind that Frank was both Jewish and the first openly gay person to serve in the United States Congress.

Somehow there can never be an answer for this. Just threaten violence, and all the liberals run whimpering away and hide in a corner.

If only we had some kind of organization to enforce laws. We could dress them in fancy uniforms, with badges, weapons, and places to lock up individuals that refuse to comply with the law, especially when they threaten law-abiding people. /s

What do you suggest the whimpering liberals do?

God forbid enforce the law.

Not an especially easy thing for “liberals” to do these days, given the generally conservative bent of the judicial system. Especially liberal individuals.

Same here. It just made me despise him even more; didn’t think that was possible.

Well, hope it doesn’t occur to them to do it on election day.

Enforce the law? Didn’t work out real well for liberals on election day in Wisconsin, did it. Given the conservative majority on its Supreme Court.

The one with all the infections appears to be private. I know my own country is the poster child for privatizing the social safety net, but I like to think that progressive democracies can do better.

Armed demonstrations and threats of violence. These are trial runs for election day. They know that if no one stops them now, they’ll be able to do whatever they want.

Interesting experience at Lowe’s today. Customers varied wildly in mask usage, but employees had a very distinct pattern. White employees were masked, black and Hispanic (appearing) employees were not. Small and very very non-scientific sampling and all, but at least on this trip there were no exceptions. Wrote it off as weird but still bugged me. Is this really where we are?

My surreal retail experience today was at Aldi. Maybe half the customers wore masks, down from almost all the week before, before the loosening of the stay at home order. All the employees did, and cashiers had plexiglass shields between them and customers.
Several elderly customers there were struggling with their masks. They all looked like paper masks they had gotten somewhere else, maybe a doctor’s office, and were reusing. One woman kept taking hers on and off; she had a low cough and did not appear well at all.
An unmasked mother with 4- or 5-month-old infant mouthing on the handle of the shopping cart was actively encouraging the elderly customers to interact with her child: “Come say hello! She loves people!” Including the old lady with the cough.
And a meth mouth “gentleman” was lecturing the cashier about how she really shouldn’t be wearing a mask or hiding behind the plexiglass because it’s all a big media hoax.
I’m sad and scared tonight.

I’m sad and scared too.

Us USians are in an idiocracy that seems much less stable than the one in that documentary, Idiocracy.
