Parents of Sandy Hook victims are suing Alex Jones for defamation

That’s a great point.

I know it’s too much to hope for but man, would I love to see them try to defend the “hoax” in a trial.

We still wouldn’t have a left wing conspiracy. We might have a centre right one.

Some of them already are drinking bleach, they also force their kids to drink it. :frowning:

In addition to making some types of weapons illegal to manufacture and sell, I think there would be restrictions on where you can take your guns in public, and maybe some buy-back programs. But I don’t see anyone advocating we forcefully confiscate anyone’s weapons.

In what sense would that constitute a “conspiracy?”

School shooting, Alt-Right denial, it’s got it all. They have even managed to squeeze in a lawyer into this short news item.

Could anything be more American?

Hadn’t seen that example of stochastic terrorism.

“Essentially, they’re not smart enough to realize they’re dumb.”

Thanks for posting that article.

This looks like an illustration for a Raymond Carver short story. Makes me wish i could paint, oh my god those empty eye holes, bleak colors…

The Sandy Hook conspiracists believe the Parkland shooting featured the same “crisis actors” and was arranged by the same Deep State.

Facts and evidence mean nothing to them. They’re gleeful about being persistent and determined toward ever more outlandish derangement. I’ve wondered if one of them had been present at a massacre if that’d fix their brain, if that eyewitness would go back to the horde and testify the truth.

But no. They’d rush to the quivering un-asylumed mob, feverish and slobbering, “Guys, the special effects technology is MINDblowing, the makeup, the fake blood, it was like it really happened!”

They will not be moved. There are types of mental illness and symptoms I understand and feel sorry for, want to help. Not this kind.

Oh $LC_DEITY, I hope the inevitable backlash against Miracle Mineral Supplement doesn’t get chlorine dioxide banned. I use it for water disinfection - more effective than hypochlorite and the sodium chlorite is shelf-stable.

Maybe she did and I hope so, but last I read he was fighting it and I can’t stomach the sight of him long enough to follow up. Still would be great if he lost everything and they somehow benefitted.

you know that it won’t matter, right?

the right will see it as proof that the deep state has forced a negative outcome for him, and he’ll make five times as much money from the donations of his fans made to help pay for the judgement, whatever it is

We need a proper, clear word for people like this, who may not have anything wrong with them in the medical sense (ie. they’re not mentally ill) but who have locked themselves into a toxic, non-fact-based worldview and mindset and actively refuse anything that contradicts it (ie. they’re bugfuck nuts).

Agree, clinical nomenclature needed. Might exist but bugfuck nuts i like, except not socially/professionally approp.

What’s the Latin for obstinate fact resistant and irrational.

Also see Bug (2006), directed by William Friedkin. There’s a disorder called Magellons or sumn like that

Willfully stupid comes to mind as suitable.
