Parents of Sandy Hook victims are suing Alex Jones for defamation

I’m sympathetic to people who have chosen the wrong information sources, but that sympathy doesn’t extend to the leadership that is exploiting and misleading them.

I hope they take him to the cleaners.

I agree. There is no point in reaching out to them or trying to engage with them. Instead, focus on convincing democrats who don’t usually vote to vote, contributing to democratic candidates in tight districts, and fixing gerrymandering.

If you haven’t had any success in the past, and aren’t going to change from rhetorical techniques that clearly haven’t worked in the past, this is extremely good advice.

My methods seem to enjoy some success, so I will continue to reach out.

It’s nearly always better to do something positive than something negative!

A friend of mine from New Hampshire often jokes that to some people “live free or die” isn’t a motto to live by, it’s a threat to hurl at strangers (edit: kinda like “live free or ELSE!”).

I found this to be enlightening, if true…

Basically, they are wired for fear and glom on to anything that eases or helps the cope with it.

I just wish Obama or Hillary or George Soros would tape a PSA begging people not to throw themselves into wood chippers or drink bleach or set themselves on fire. It could take care of the country’s Republican problems overnight.

“Live free or die”. He needs to die.

One of the most uplifting things on the internet this week was that video clip of Alex Jones sobbing inconsolably about how his support for Trump cost him his kids and now Trump is crapping all over him.

I almost want to see that.

That defense only works in the right context. When his ex was arguing his show proved he was unfit to parent, saying it’s all made up counters that point. But if you are illegally defaming people and that defamation is causing real harm, whether you were “just joking” may not matter at all.

Well… to be fair… there pretty much is one of those. What do you think would happen if by some miracle the Dems took all huge majorities in the Fed and state congresses, the state governorships, public opinion, and loaded the SC with true progressives? Think people would vote to take guns away from people?

No.
But there’d likely be commonsense restrictions imposed on who can purchase guns, who to and how gun owners can sell their guns to, and clamping down on NRA/firearms manufacturers ability to buy politicians.

Yeah, it would be great if they absolutely stripped him and then apportioned a fund to support his children he doesn’t pay child support for. Insult to injury.

I am sure someone else would too:

SO, if I am getting you straight you are suggesting that democracy equals a conspiracy.

No matter what happens the Derpistanis will believe it’s because he’s RIGHT

I agree with @Carbonman on this. There would be no “vote to take away guns”. But keep in mind that the Constitution isn’t unchangeable, including the amendments (see the 21st Amendment’s effect on the 18th). I would say there’s a bit of cleaning up and updating that’s needed. Like old code, y’know? There are new APIs to take into account.

I knew he’d lost custody of his kids, but I thought she got a bundle from him, enough to take care of them. If he isn’t paying child support, it just makes me hate him all the more.
