Until the FBI announces a substantial reward for information leading to the capture of this high-profile fugitive. Offering thousands or tens of thousands of dollars will provide plenty of motivation for people to be on the look out for him. All it could take is one person recognizing him even in sunglasses and a baseball hat and calling law enforcement to catch him. And I’m sure the TV news in New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey (at least) would plaster his face all over TV for at least a day or two (in “Breaking News” segments), increasing the chances that someone who passes him by would recognize him.
And if he does flee and is caught, no more sitting in his home with an ankle monitor. It’d be a nice bright orange jumpsuit in a detention facility until his trial.
But that info would take many hours if not days to disseminate to saturation. If he’s gone to ground or on a boat within an hour or 2 it’s not going to help much, and that has to be the plan or why bother.
Given the overall level of competence and tradecraft that the Trump admin and everyone involved has shown so far, I really cannot see Manafort setting up, let alone executing, a cunning, carefully choreographed caper to escape from the Feds.
I mean, these are amusing things to argue about, but what we have here is a 68-year old lobbyist, not Jason Bourne.
Who said it was to be choreographed by Manafort? The Trumper’s sure are The Gang That Couldn’t Shoot Straight but the Russians have proved to have quite effective operational capacity.
