Pelosi says House to begin 'official impeachment inquiry' on Donald Trump

Correct. There have been no formal hearings on the Ukraine subject.

Alright so they ran with the approval rating agregate that traditionally sits higher without referencing the more commonly cited one. The “August slump” they refer to is a point or less, and the increase they’re pointing out is only around a point.

But yeah he’s at his highest ever approval rating based on one infrequently conducted poll that’s exactly as high as several past polls at various times and despite the fact that his overall approval is pretty much where its been sitting for more than a year.

THAT IS SOME WEIGHTY ANALYSIS.

I don’t think that’ll matter to him. If public opinion meaningfully shifts in a way (and in places) that makes the GOP worried about the election they’ll flip on Trump in a hot second.

But I do not think McConnell will do anything other than obstruct, if you’ve been following the coverage of Mitch and his Wife. They’re implicated in some pretty serious corruption of straight up Trumpian sort. Any impeachment attempt with legs behind it stands a fairly good chance of uncovering some other shit, and we’re not likely to see a “the country needs to move on” hand wave like with Nixon.

So I’m reasonably sure that McConnell will be primarily worried about avoiding prosecution himself.

Likely they want to get something out in minimally visible fashion that’s vague enough to treat as an exoneration of some sort, like they did with the Mueller report.

Trump’s admitting shit, saying he’ll hand over the transcript and now there’s a push to hand over the whistle blower report. CNN is reporting that the White House is prepping to hand it over.

I’m not sure what these people are looking at, as this hasn’t been in the news long enough to show up in polls or other metrics. But Trump and the GOP seem to pretty panicked about it, and the broad impression seems to be that this is sticking. It certainly convinced a lot of fence sitting moderate Dems.

It looks to me like they’re scrambling to look like they’re doing the right thing.

Which only started to happen when knowledge of the tapes became public. Nixon fought handing over the tapes, providing what turned out to be highly edited transcripts. Then tried handing over carefully selected, edited tapes. Then was forced to turn them all over. His support bottomed out when the full, unedited tapes began to be played in public.

WELL, ´BOUT FUCKING TIME!!!
I´m PO that it took them SO long to get it rolling, despite the fact that the Orange Bastard did so many, OH SO MANY, illegal, unconstitutional and just amoral things in the last 2.5 years he has been occupying the office of US-president (Wait, its really just about 2.5 years? Fuck me sideways, it feels like 25 years).
Anyway, better late than never.

I doubt the writer’s what one would call a disinterested party.

It’s not much of a stretch (ahem) to assume something along the lines of what a grand jury might find out.

They only care about their own little bubble world. They do NOT care about “those people.” It’s like that woman in Florida said about Trump after Hurricane Michael, “I thought he was going to do good things. He’s not hurting the people he needs to be hurting.” That’s a pretty sick view of the world.

I trust Trump complicitly.

I read that piece this morning. Utter dreck.

“Henry Olsen is a Washington Post columnist and a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center.”

Unfortunately, it’s clear from his writing that he doesn’t give two shites about ETHICS.

I really hope this situation ends up a Starcraft II and not a Half Life 3.

They’ve got the goods. They wouldn’t let it go this far if they weren’t quite certain they did.
