We use this concept in voiceover all the time. Whether for ads or animation, the movement of the body, including gestures, is integral to a performance. So much so that it is not unusual to botch a take by hitting the music stand holding your script with your hands lol.

And as much as I’d hate to admit it, they can hear your facial expressions as well. Experience in phone customer service has taught me that putting a smile on really does make one sound more friendly.
