Doesn’t work. The failures of trump’s policies are because of Congress, or because of Obama, or because of anyone but trump.

If you press them on it, then it means that they have to say they support an Obama policy (not really, but you get the point).
It certainly doesn’t seem to apply to republicans at all. The party of personal responsibility can’t fucking handle credit less than glowing accolades

Meanwhile Fox continues attacking AOC as if she were the exclusive bearer of this particular bit of bad news, totally ignoring the other members of congress and the US government’s own report. Apparently that’s their strategy - malign her, turn her into a boogeyman, then pretend everything bad is only in her mind. It shows how much Fox news relies on their viewers only getting news from them.
I’m not sure what you mean by “how long” - in between denials that any of this is true, the right have been blaming Obama for Trump’s policies and Trump-era conditions as an immediate response, the second any bit of information came to light.
My experience is that when you press them on it, their cognitive dissonance reaches a point where anything they say stops being even remotely coherent, to avoid saying they supported an Obama policy.

not “detention center”, you can’t even argue it’s NOT a concentration camp, they aren’t holding people from Canada or people who overstayed their visas there, it’s one kind of person from one geo region and they aren’t only being held for the maximum 72 hours, they are being collected and concentrated for maximum suffering
