if they aren’t quite in Florida yet does it still count as FL man??? They never made it to FL, so how does that affect things…I feel like we need some rules laid out here.

“Florida man” is a state of mind, not geography. That said, this person was clearly following an instinctive call to return to his natural home.

A quick reminder to all about the rules, which state:
Do not make assumptions as to anyone’s mental state
That means that the primary issue here is with anyone who starts from the assumption that he’s mentally ill. All people with mental illness or neurodivergent conditions don’t behave like this, despite the stigma that they do.
This guy may have been high, drunk, or a conspiracist arsehole. Or mentally ill, which is why a psych eval was warranted after he was arrested. Or all of the above. We don’t know yet.
What we do know is that, like an increasing number of passengers on planes, he was acting like a dangerous jerk and making weird statements.
