Poll worker charged with assaulting black voter, shouting racist remarks

But putting forth the bare minimum of at least trying to hide it should be White People 101.

Many more interesting details in the full story, including

[Edith] Randle [the presiding election judge] told Anthony she had already reported her coworker many times to the police, that the racist comments had been coming from Barnes since a training at the church Monday night, and the team of African American poll workers knew Barnes was racist and were trying to get her removed from the polling site.

Dude, I’m directly related to bigots in denial on my mom’s side; at this point, I’m honestly not sure what’s worse… flagrant in-your-face racism like this, or false-face pseudo-civility while someone harbors their hatred in secret.

I just know our species has a seriously long fucking way to go…

I think I prefer blatant racism. Knowing who is the enemy is almost as good as knowing who’s a true friend.

Hopefully, a Federal prosecutor will file charges also. Interfering at a polling place is a felony.

I’d prefer no racism at all, but again; we’re nowhere even close as a society…

I propose a black ops antifa removal operation, where every disgusted US citizen roofies their racist of choice, takes them to some port in the Gulf, where several cruise ships are waiting, and ship them off to some remote island to finish out their lives. Sort of like a reverse slave ship situation, but not life-threatening, because I don’t want to be that guy.

im going to say no on this.

blatant racism creates space for others to act in racist ways. it sends a signal that these things are okay. just like the president has been doing. it’s the path of radicalization.

when people know they have to keep it bottled up – when they are afraid show that side of themselves – that’s when, ultimately, it begins fades.

Being afraid to admit you’re a nazi, or a racist is, I think, probably a good thing.

Being afraid that people won’t like you for it, and that they’ll stop doing business with you, and acting civilly towards you because of your dumb and irrational stance is a natural consequence of a proper working social order.

You’re doing it right, Judge Edith. :two_hearts::two_hearts::two_hearts:, IronEdith.

See current president. The racists we are seeing now did not just become racists, they now feel empowered to let their freak flag fly. I was happier when they were not comfortable doing so.

Yes he the fuck does, he taught me after-all…

Agreed.

However, this seems a good time for a reminder of one of my standard rants: racism = prejudice + power.

It isn’t about individual psychological failings, it’s about a global system of exploitation and oppression. Racism will not pass until the power structure that created and supports it is challenged.

Everyone should work at least one election in their life time. It makes for a long ass day, but you get paid a little bit for your work, learn about the process, and would help prevent racist douche bags from working the polls.

Plus, think of all the “working the polls” jokes you’ll get to make.

it seems though that the police were involved somehow and they did something to the stupid white lady for a change, like charge her with assault.
so I don’t know if I want to yell fuck as much as other people do.

I think the “fuck” is a stand-in for how did it even get that far?

Yeah, this. Make them feel like they’re alone in their opinions. Sometimes that makes them rethink things. Eventually they die.

The major motivator of social growth away from stupid people with dumb ideas that harm others.
