Why not take it up with the person who replied to you instead of me?
My comment was to moisttroll, and reflected my thoughts on my own sympathies.
No need to get defensive about your own feelings in a reply to me and no need for the attitude either. Who you choose to feel sorry for in this world is not my concern.
Yeah, and the “funny” thing is that any Asian person is probably more closely related to the actual original inhabitants of the USA than anybody of European descent. Not that any NA groups that were run off their land or suffer from poverty etc… nowadays would care.
The Asian guy is a closer relative to the people with the original claim to this country than Karen there, so logically he’s got more of a right to it than her?
“Hey, I’m here trying to make a buck in my (distant) cousin’s land. You go back to your country invader!”.
I have a friend that lived with us 2016-19 while his green card came in [educated / trained engineer]. He drove, he delivered, just about anything you can think of while he was technically a non-citizen 7 days a week for the last 3 years. The stories were horrifically nightmarish, the daily toll it took on him was visible, the wretched racist human scum that relentlessly demeaned him, and he always kept a smile on his face, how I do not know.
Now the good news. He just got his green card, and I will be celebrating with him in San Diego this weekend. He has 3 engineer job offers, and is do to be wed next month to lovely gal. We are all strangers in a strange land, everyone of us brothers & sisters, so say I.
It would have served them right if instead of doing them the courtesy of pulling into a gas station before kicking them out, the driver should have stopped where ever he was and kicked them out in the middle of nowhere.
The American branch of my family began as half Choctaw; I basically apologize to my grandmother five times a week, at least, for the behavior of any white relations that I have, who might have acted out in such a way.
The other two didn’t deserve that, even though they were all drunk and the guy was a little annoying. It was really just that one woman causing the trouble.
But I bet there are some Repugnicans out there that search “sexy karen” on porn sites. Has to be a thing. Somewhere some Trumpist is paying to get told to go back to China and enjoying the hell out of it.
I usually look at my (particularly with my generation) now very mixed family, and see it as things healing. An older family member who was a total dick to my Mom for marrying a white guy, now has mixed race grandkids.
Things slowly heal, and the only people that owe apologies are the people who act like dicks.
I wonder if anyone’s ever replied, “go back to Europe, you fucking colonizer!”
Cathartic, it would be.
(Not that I would want to add these to Europe’s existing burdens to bear.)
Drunk is no excuse. History shows that alcohol just reveals the truth of what’s underneath the “civilized exterior.” (How old is the phrase “in vino veritas?”) I’d like to believe that Stella is mortified by her behavior, but it sure looks to me like this is who she really is.
On another note, do people really still use the word “broads?” Really?!?
I keep telling myself this is a small minority, that people like this do not represent the great majority of white Americans (of which I am one) – but it’s getting harder to believe that.
I hope there’s some aftereffects and I don’t mean just a hangover.
But far too many people will excuse what someone does while drunk as if they were someone else or because they were drunk normal rules of responsibility no longer apply.
Her boyfriend will remain her boyfriend. I doubt he did not know she behaves like this and holds opinions such as this.
