Regardless of whether it ends his term, impeaching Trump have five likely benefits

No. Just no. They deserve zero shreds of dignity or respect. This would NOT be a benefit.

Yes. (Well, I get it, anyway.) Masonic thinking was perhaps more prevalent then, at least. Cannot comment on whether it has any perceptible effects we can attribute to it. But it’s a plausible influence you’ve mooted, there.

I am so for impeachment up to but stopping at conviction of our historically unfit and unqualified infantile POTUS. By November 2020, running against Trump – who’s growing more unhinged almost daily – will be an easy path to huge success. And there shouldn’t be any concern about Trump doing a Tricky Dick Nixon and resigning to avoid conviction because a) the Senate isn’t going to convict and b) Trump cannot quit under any circumstances.
So, sure, bring it on. Of all our myriad factually-supported shortcomings, the most important one not to give in to is support the idea that anyone’s above the law – at least, POTUS isn’t.

Yes. I can’t even blame autocorrect, either.

It’s a fair cop. At this point, politicians rate just below pond scum. pond scum, at least, does serve a purpose…

Liked. Except #notallpoliticians, obviously. But certainly ALL Republican politicians. If only they were lower than pond scum literally and not just metaphorically - they’d be under the water’s surface and hopefully stay there until their drowned bloated bodies floated up.

Well, Bill Clinton was a very long time ago now. And the support Bernie has/had with Trump supporters is really just among those who are probably independents or “sick of politics as usual” and voted for Trump because he was so different than any normal politician. Among the hardcore conservatives Fox News’ marching orders will always be the primary basis of their reasoning. They would have voted against Bernie without thinking twice, it’s not like he would have won by huge margins, let alone swept the south. I concede being white and male has advantages, but not enough to overcome the red scare paranoia that seems to still exist.

I agree that Bernie could not have won any of the south, and that much of the overlap in Bernie/Trump support is due to the negative view of DC and the idea that the bigger the change the better. I still don’t think that changes my point though.
Fox News mostly just tells their audience whatever they want to hear; its not like they ever challenge their audience’s biases. So, that Fox tells them to vote for white, christian (a key reason Bernie wouldn’t have won), males doesn’t go against the bias of preferring the white, christian, male independent of politics.
I stand by the claim that being a white male is a prerequisite for getting a presidential vote from most (and almost all) conservatives, and there is no single policy issue that this is as true of.
