We can like too much? Who knew?
Happened to me when I came home from a long trip and couldnât get to sleep so I sat up reading through a bunch of threads. I think the number might be 50, and then you get a pop-up that tells you to wait 24 hours before going on another liking rampage.
Fair enough!
I agree to an extent⌠I think there is enough disinformation out there that actually seeing and understanding what is reality is kind of tough. This has been true across the modern era, where we are fed a stream of disinformation by various players in the game. But itâs worse now, with a media landscape which actively works to divide people into demographics in order to turn a profit. So yeah, itâs our fault for falling for this, but itâs tough to fight your way out of itâŚ
But, either way, this guy is a bully. And some percentage of the population voted for him, possibly because he was a bully. Some people like the idea of a âtough guyâ running things⌠So I guess thatâs the whole authoritarianism that some people like. Maybe itâs that people want to a) feel like they are part of something, either of the ruling class or as a beleagured outsider, and b) they want their views expressed, and by voting for such a strong personality who is carrying their views, they feel theyâll get a hearing. I donât think itâs just a love of authoritarianism, I think we do have a strong level of disconnection and anomie in todayâs America. People donât feel like they are being heard, and we put a premium on having âyourâ view heard⌠Add to that how lonely some people are, and you get asshats like this in congressâŚ
Itâs a complicated problem, but this guy is a jerk off.
It started as a typo. (pressing a and s at the same time) then I thought it sounded ok and decide to leave it. And then I googled it and it is already in the Urban dictionary !!!
Itâs probably one of those things that you heard or read it a while ago, forgot about, and then it creeped up into your unconscious to be deployed at the appropriate moment⌠I think this is a common thing. Still, I learned it from youâŚ
Yes, this crossed my mind too!
Oh, because members of Congress never carry out acts of politically-motivated violence. Itâs all just empty trash talk. You go ahead and keep thinking that if you like.
Well summed up!
Please. Finding examples of someone who carried out a threat is somehow supposed to negate the fact that MOST threats people make are never carried out.
Not to mention that said incident was in 1856.
I feel the need for Rep. Michael Grimm to be cuffed, processed and arraigned for violating District of Columbia Crimes Code § 22-1810, ASAP. NY1 Reporter Michael Scotto need not press charges for this to happen. How real was the threat? Grimm always carries concealed pistols. Itâs no great leap to presume he gestured to one out of view while he was threatening to murder a member of the press with a hot mic and a camera rollingâŚ
Also, because, of course, heâs a man of his word, it can only be interpreted that Congressman Michael Grimmâs game plan last night was to murder reporter Michael Scotto via de-ecthetation then perform a necrophilic act on his corpse until such vigorous action splayed said corpse in two. Thatâs what Grimm was attempting to express, no?
and not even directed at a member of the press wearing a blazer on a Wednesday!
Clearly it was a coded invitation to a a family dinner, quite friendly by the standards of their culture, and not a threat at all.
The antidote to that is your own blog, not complaining.
