Republicans will never certify a Democratic win ever again

Manure. Republicans can be sued for gross dereliction in court. The only result of a GOP refusal to certify means the the election outcome will be delayed and decided by the courts.

Trust me, this is a trial balloon to see if GOP refusal will be countenanced at all. It also means that they tipped their hand early so that parties inimical to GOP bad faith actions (i.e., parties who embrace the Rule Of Law) have lawsuits at the ready.

False equivalence is false. You say “their own way” as if it allows you to elide explaining why anything the Dems have done “in their own way” is equal to sedition and insurrection, attempts to overthrow of democracy, abandonment of the Constitution, and/or an attempt to forcefully implement a government with a white supremacist agenda that operates against the interest of the majority of the US population.

These words sound reasonable but aren’t IMO. I mean if you squint hard enough and ignore any peripheral vision, why you can almost see the tu quoque, right? Doesn’t matter.

We’re never all gonna fit in there, mate!
You need a new plan!!

All the courts can do is decide whether Republicans’ actions are legal.

At a certain point the system stops working when a critical mass of those in government decide that the law doesn’t matter.

Right, like Elon, Bezos, and the Kardashians are going to let people like us live in their post apocalyptic island utopia! Ha!

Do you mean “in their utopia” or “at all” ?

Ooh, ooh, don’t forget, “Forsaking their constitutional duties to fill vacant supreme court seats or conduct a fair and timely census!”

My posting history will show that I’ve been unsparing in my criticism of the Third Way Dem establishment, but considering the extreme levels of rot and corruption in the GOP the above is a BS false equivalency to the point of it being borderline Off-Topic.

Despite the fantasies of Libertarians, in 2021 there is no “away” when it comes to a country as large, as powerful, and as integral to the global economy and military apparatus as the U.S. is.

I mean, sure, if you’re in a targetted group, leave for a more reasonable country if things get bad. But the wealthy white males buying property in NZ and Australia are very low on the fascists’ and Xtianists’ hit lists (and indeed, some of them like Thiel are fascists).

So you admit that the two aren’t comparable? I am not a fan of Biden, but it would be ridiculous to claim that he is just another Trump, just as it is ridiculous to claim that the Democrats are just as bad as the Republicans.

It has always a hallmark of authoritarianism, left, right and centre. Communism does not explain Pinochet, Operation Gladio or Operation Condor. All that changed under Trump was that all that authoritarianism was turned on the US rather than other countries.

I’ll leave the essay on “Marxism-Leninism is not all that Communism is, but even then the Democrats aren’t even socialist, never mind Communist” for another time.

Tasmania would not be my first choice. Have you seen what the Liberal Party of Australia have been saying recently?

Y’mean, like the Bush-Gore 2000 SCOTUS case that nullified the Florida recount to give Bush the 1 electoral vote needed for the win?

With respect, one need not cite something that is one’s opinion.

That court decision, like most court decisions, would not have had the same impact if the people who disagreed with it simply elected to ignore it. The Democrats didn’t like that SCOTUS decision but they did respect the outcome and cooperated with the peaceful transfer of power in accordance with the law.

That is clearly not the case with the Republicans. If they continue down the path they are on then it doesn’t matter what the law says, because laws are just words on paper if there aren’t people willing and able to enforce them.

Democrats aren’t pushovers. They just believe in laws and processes. They are the coach that says, “We thought the officiating was pretty terrible but that is the nature of the game.” meanwhile the Republicans are busy letting the air out of the footballs.

i’d like you to enlarge and clarify this thought here.

since your prior statement is backed by no evidence besides your say-so, are you now encouraging everyone to ignore you?

I’m sorry, but I simply can’t square the concept of being a good person and voting for trump twice.

I suppose I can give the especially stupid a pass for being duped the first time.

The second time, I really can’t imagine an excuse other than that they want to see fellow americans be hurt, or they’re rich enough it’s worth it to them to benefit off the pain and destruction of disadvantaged groups.

They may be nice to you, but by voting republican, they’re stating that they believe a lot of their fellow Americans don’t deserve rights or human dignity.

I think the meta-game is part of the game. For example, Republicans have long focused on playing the refs, it’s something Trump does constantly. Prominent Democrats often point to a lack of political will or point to the laws and process when they don’t do those things. It’s not the only way to win but it does give an advantage and I think willfully ignoring the meta-game, focusing only on the game and doing poorly, can make them a pushover.
